Gyro / Servo Question Futaba 520
Hi Guys
Had a new member turn up to the club for a check over and set up,
He is using a 520 gyro on a Raptor 50 with a redline TT engine.

I set it up to hover nicely and gently but i cannot get rid of a tail kick, I have ensured it is set mechanically correct, prior to putting in HH mode.

I am wondering if the gyro tail servo is the wrong pair, he is using Futaba 3010 servo on his tail, I know the gyro has a certain frame rate requirement for a servo, is it okto use this servo ?
And if so do i need to set the gyro to analogue as it is not a fast servo ?

I have checked all tail barings, all main mast bearings, everything is as it should be.. the only thing was mixture control on the engine - i dont know ideal setting for this engine anyone help?, and rear engine bearing sounded noisy so i recommended he replace that.

he also has gyro placed at front of the raptor in the frame, not at rear where I normally put it ( flat piece behind the mast) so i am guessing its location could have something to do with it if it is picking up vibrations due to a rich/lean engine.

Matt how's you ?

The 3010 is a analogue servo so the gyro will need setting to that but also if the engine is running rich the gyro will pick up on it. With the gyro placed at the front it does seem to pick up on the vibration a bit more but it is easier to fit it there

Matt , the 3010 is not fast enought to be used as a tail servo

Speed: 4.8V:0.20 sec/60°
6.0V:0.16 sec/60°

it is actually quite slow ........

that servo is slow yes but still should hold a hover fine. if its kicking might be motor adjustment

How did you get on with the problem on the mw54 the other month ? Find the problem ?

Did you get to fly the raptor before the op ? Was it ok ?
