I finally converted my Evo 50 to poor mans turbine thanks to Darryl's post and Stan for helping me with my motor and battery choice.

Pulled engine and accessory and new setup

Fab motor mount

Motor mod

Dial runout on clutch shaft

Mounted new power train

Ready To Fly

Long Ranger Fuselage

Test hovered today and it was different. Missed the nitro smell and smoke trail. I do like the turbine spool up sound and how the blades spool up real slow.

Glad To Help Out!!!
Very nice job on your conversion... glad I was able to add to Darryl's post on the motor and battery set up.

I really like the motor mount that Darryl came up with.. sure a LOT less $$'s then mine cost me, and you got to retain the clutch.. If I were to do it again (you never know:eek), I think that this is the ultimate setup (except for the 6s for power, I prefer 12s), and would do it just as you have it here...

Congrats on your project, and I will be looking for the pic's when it is in that NICE LOOKING FUSELAGE!!!!

Only one question for you.. what mod did you do to the motor??

Enjoy it!!
Stan

Thought you might recognize this pic at your field quite a few years back!!!

The motor came with a 8mm to 6mm shaft, the prop adapter is only in 5mm. I ordered a 8mm to 5mm shaft and swapped it out.
