Or just start a few clicks richer than what others recommended. I started with 2.25 turns on high and 2 turns on the mid. Way too rich, so over the 7 tanks of hovering/light pitch pumps I have put through the engine both needles wound up at 1.75 turns out, engine still running very cool with atmosphere temp 55F.

One thing I did notice was during moderate pitch pumps was that at the top of the climb, then going to 0 collective the engine would hiccup, smoke output would drop then rpms would come back after about 1 second. I am running Byrons 20/20 YS mix along with Hatori sab50. Any insight on this?

I am waiting for temps to get back to at least mid 50s to get the heli out flying again. This time I plan to start with high needle @ 1.75, mid @ 2, and follow the tuning process in the manual to a T.

Throttlemax in limiter mode.

I should also mention this hiccup never happened before with my old 50 hyper the 55 replaced, only the engine was changed.

try turning the rev limiter off when tuning the engine the engine would over speed when you go zero pitch coming from a full pitch climbout and the rev limiter compensates by lowering the throttle, that's why the engine seems to lose power or stall when doing that. same thing if you go up high and then make the heli go down fast while leveled with a high negative pitch input

I set it by the manual just to start it. It's useally to rich to even turn the blades. Lean it out and hover 3 maybe 4 tanks at the most. Then go fly and tune from there. I always tune strictly by the sound of the motor.
