All in name of speed, looking for a few seconds of forward rocket propulsion. Going for 180mph on a 6-700 electric heli. Align may be the platform to start with.

You may have to slow the blades down some at that speed. Blades reaching supersonic can have very bad results.

Anything that produces a warp bubble that enables it to travel through subspace (faster than light travel) should be automatically DISQUALIFIED ! lol

Not yet Sir, however I am changing the heli to a Mikado instead, the Mikado logos I believe are more aerodynamic, and a more slippery canopy. The Logo head may better dampened for high speed flights as well. Diablos and TDR's would be a better choice but $$$ price tag.

Will start with these, twin propellant setup first, then move up to quad propellant, not sure how well the CG will fair with the FBL system.
Engine Type: D12-0
Total Impulse - N-sec: 20.0
Time Delay - Sec.: None
Maximum Lift Wt. - Oz.: 14.0
Maximum Lift Wt. - g: 396
Maximum Thrust - Newtons: 32.9
Maximum Thrust - Lbs.: 7.4
Thrust Duration - Sec.: 1.6
Initial Weight - Oz.: 1.44
Initial Weight - g: 40.9
Propellant Weight - Oz.: 0.88
Propellant Weight - g: 24.93

The 1.6 seconds of thrust should be ample after reaching top speed with propulsion of the electrical system. If anyone has tips please fell free to PM me thank you.

1.6sec burn at that trust is not going to be enought to get the job done..

The E9s would be better.. almost 3sec burn at 27n each.. same 24mm dia!

Estes does have some new 29mm BP F15s on the way..

Should be fun to play with.

BTY.. if you really want power thats not an issue.. Im sure we could shread anything and everything off the frame of that thing!

Did look at a few engines, even stages, but thats a too ambitious right now, i am more concerned how the heli may react for first flights. 1.6 should be enough for me to deal with for now till i figure out how the FBL system/heli all will deal with that sorta xtra umph. Once they go off I'm just along for the ride.

Try some Aerotech reloadable rocket motors.
http://www.redarrowhobbies.com/aero...der_engines.htm

The G-12RCT are designed for gliders they have an 8 sec burn with 7.5 lbs of initial thrust With a total impulse of 100n/sec.
I have used these motors on my rocket powered glider that is dropped from a mother ship plane and remotely fired. They have a nice steady boost with out the instant thrust you get with normal rocket motors

That sure looks like a blast but, you know, there is a much easier way. All someone needs to do is put the right Nitro and gearing and they could take this competition slam dunk. Just look at Top Fuel (ie Nitro) and you'll see that they beat electric dragsters by a rediculous margin. Would be no different here.
