Thanks. I already machined a 12mm collar for the new shaft. The stock rex700 shaft has a small collar brazed to the shaft, so I had to come up with a collar for the new custom shaft.

Ron: That looks great! I still need seats, dash and sticks etc. for mine. Did you ever get the cockpit detail parts in stock?

Thanks Tint

Ron: Thanks for the heads up. I'll have a look at your website for the pricing. Those are some very good looking seats. What scale (how tall)are your pilot figures?

The seats are the same height as the ones that come with the kit
the pilot is a 1/6 scale GI Jane
so she is slightly smaller than the GI Joe
the seats are marked as 1/7 bit that depends on the Heli

Here she is with the new custom length mainshaft. It's .750 longer than the stock Rex700 mainshaft and has a custom machined collar that takes the place of the stock collar that's brazed on the rex shaft. I'm waiting on the new 3 blade swash to show up.

Here's also a pic of the cabin floor section that I haven't bonded in place yet. I want to wait and see how the CG works out first. That way if I need ballast, I can fit it under the floor.

Looking Good Bud!!!!!
The added length does look better....
I just figured out what you are doing now... You are building all these new projects and you are going to take them to a body shop and get one GREAT price on shooting them all the same color!!!!!
Just kidding... you are going to have a VERY NICE big bird fleet this season...

Now that's a great idea!!!! Then I'll invite all of the RR usual suspects over for a detailing party... Actually, I bought a detail paint gun a while back and Ken (stunt4fun) is going to help me get back into painting. His helis have absolutely awesome paint jobs!

I agree, the head height is much closer to stock now. It's the longest shaft that I can fit, without having to cut a slot in the top of the doghouse. With the mechs on the floor, the shaft barely clears the notch in the doghouse, then I install the wood riser after the mechs are in the airframe. The other option was to install the mainshaft after the mechs are in, but that just gets to be a PITA So, I decided that I can live with this...

Thanks

Here's the latest: Still waiting for my swashplate, so I started fitting the doors. I didn't like the hinges from the kit, so I borrowed a trick from Bell222. I cut down some of the smaller size DuBro aileron hinges, added an extra hole and rounded the corners. they made for a very nice looking door hinge. These looked so good on his AS350, that I just had to use it

Thanks tint

You too Ken Happy to help you out. I couldn't replicate the real AS350 hinge, which is way smaller. But they look good and the size fits the fuse. The real heli doesn't have as big of a post between the leading edge of the door and the edge of the front windscreen either... Let me know when you have time and we'll get your Vbar dialed in on the huey.

I'm not sure that there is one true scale body out there aside from those that build museum scale models. You know, the ones that go to TopGun or what ever the top scalers of everything go to. I found so many changes that it was not worth worrying about it and barreled on ahead as if nothing was wrong. Your hinges look great and I know there is some little dohicky on the lower hinge that goes down and rear from the door side of the hinge. I have those as dummies, ready to mount one day on my AS350, once I figure out what mixture of brown I need to match the paint. Keep going, it looks great.

Thanks Don. Yeah, I agree, there's only so much you can do with these fuses. Unless you have unlimited time and funds. For me, it's all about building them and having fun flying them My favorite saying: "Don't sweat the petty stuff, PET the sweaty stuff"...
