Exactly...it doesn't have it, I own 2. What I was saying is, maybe a software update to compete with helicommand.AMA# 1078375

It seems good flight characteristics are a dime a dozen these days. And the fans of antiquated, stagnated systems "see no reason" for the latest features. Cracks me up every time. LOL

Also, any HC3-Xbase or HC3-Xtreme system can be upgraded to the Full HC3-SX spec. The price you will pay is approx the difference in the original cost of the systems.
So your saying that the HC3-Xbase or HC3-Xtreme can be upgraded with just software or firmware update without being sent back to home base ger ?

The base unit can be upgraded to extreme with a simple firmware download (that you pay for btw) but both of these need to be sent back to Germany to be upgraded to hc3sx Probably still just a firmware update but hc may do a few checks/adjustments as well.

When still, they have accelerometers which will detect the direction of gravity. Once moving, they sum movements to keep track of the additude. That's one way anyway.

Helicommand hc3sx does not use accelerometers, just smart firmware/software. No idea how it works, it just does, lol!

It's the gyros that are monitoring the angular motions so yes, if it has gyros it should be able to do self leveling.
Accelerometers are used to keep track of direction and speed so not needed for leveling. Probably more useful when advancing to GPS control.
Accelerometers can also be used to determine how level, or un-level, the heli is before lift-off or when in a steady hover. So, they could also be useful for getting into a level additude straight off the ground but I'm not sure that is being employed yet.

I'll tell you what Bob, those Gyrobot accelerometers did nothing very useful, lol! This was a pretty good fbl system but the worst bailout imho. They (jerks) actually never did a proper bailout btw.

My guess would be that the recovery position is read and stored by the firmware when you initiate the system. Turn you heli on upside down and see what it does... Happay Happay Happay...

If I could reprogram my old Vbars to have some sort of recovery feature, that would be pretty cool. But it would have to not interfere with my regular flying. I do not want training wheels (aka like flying a coaxial helicopter).Avant RC

Skookum say they will have an add on for the 720 by the end of the month. It has hard and soft floors plus go home via gps. Looks good on paper but very pricey.
Knowing my luck I would fit one of these then have a servo or mechanical failure.

Um...yeah, that would suck. LOL
Or the GPS suddenly decides home is 30 feet under ground....on a heli that was otherwise perfect.

I got quite excited about the Skookum, hard floor bailout system.
But on reading the manual the minimum bailout height that can be set is 8m. Hopefully as they develop it they can lower the height. I now very rarely fly above this, so not much use at present.
Perhaps I need to learn to flick a switch and use the helicommand.
