I am new to electric. I need to know if I am hurting anything. I am running two 5s lipo's in series. When I plug in the second battery in I get a little spark. Setup is a kontronik 80HV, 10S, with EC5 connectors.

I would hate to find out later that I damaged something. If I need to stop the spark what is the easiest way to accomplish this. Not much on this subject.

Thanks for any Information.

Actually, I believe the opposite is true. If you don't get a spark there is something wrong. The spark is the capacitors filling up.

i dont believe you will do any damage to the batteries. but your plugs will eventually pit so bad they wont connect correctly. if i were you id get some anti spark connectors or make some of your own, very cheap.

It will not harm anything. If you want you can add an arrestor to the positive lead going to the esc.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Won't get into a debate about the spark. But if you want a easy solution for a anti spark connector, as TMoore said above the Jeti
anti spark connectors are the easiest solution in my opinion..

I use them on my Jive and YGE and Schulze controllers. I got spoiled with the anti spark/ anti reverse polarity feature of the powerjazz.

That looks to be the easiest option to get rid of the spark. I saw them when I was searching. Do you think Everyone should use them?

Unless you have a ESC that has anti spark protection built into it
yes, but that's just my opinion..

as Castle Creations say spark is your friend ,the only damage is to the connectors , it can burn the leading edge of the connector, but no problem

Yeah it will just discolor the entry to the plug.

Wiring in a resistor just serves to add a potential failure mode as well as extra clutter.

Waste of time in my opinion.

That is an interesting product. Has anyone measured the (temporary) resistance ? How long do you hesitate when you plug it in ?

I plan on going this route on my goblin 630 , heli jive 120

From what I see is that I only need to install it from the positive leading wire coming from the esc
