So is the idea that you can connect the program box to the TX and have the TX relay it the the 760 for all of the programming? This would allow mounting in hard to get areas.

I've been told information on the 760 will be coming more quickly now. Specifics about the 760 are being finalized and should become public in the coming months.

A complete black hole right now is where US buyers will be buying from. At this moment Hobbico is the exclusive US Futaba importer but it's no secret they are in bankruptcy. I'm only speculating but my guess is that Hobbico owes Japan money. My guess is that Hobbico will be sold either in pieces or in entirety to one or more entitie(s) (where it may still be parted up). That could happen as soon as early May. I wonder if Futaba will ship to Hobbico (the US) without first receiving a cash payment?

My guess is that we may be able to add-to-cart in then next few months - the question is, which cart?

I don't really care where my cart is loaded at this point, honestly. Screw Hobbico. They are the exclusive importers of a lot of brands. Yet they still mismanaged it.

Worse-come-to-worse, I'll get it elsewhere. That 760 is looking great.

Please tell me, CGY760r settings can be made with the remote control 14SG and 16SZ? Or only with 18SZ and 18MZ?

16 should be no problem since it runs the same software as the 18sz. 14 less likely; will need to use the programming box.

Dr.Ben,

I correctly understand that all the settings of the CGY760R can be done with 16SZ and I do not need to buy a programming box in addition.

Does anyone know if a separate RX or ???? can be utilized to add additional ports for standard digital servos (non Sbus) or devices?

Example: Current setup utilizes an R7008SB RX set to MODE D. Sbus cable from RX to CGY750. So CGY750 has pit, elev, ail, rudder, elev 2 hooked up to it (using channels 1-8). I then have retract servo, turret servos, light controller, etc. (all standard digital servos) hooked up to the RX ports using channels 9-15. Would I be able to do this (or similar) with the CGY760? I understand I could use the Sbus2 port on the CGY760, but that will only work with Sbus servos and I have several devices that are not Sbus compatible, they are just standard digital devices. Trying to determine if this new CGY760 will work for my application (scale with lots of channels being used) or if I am better suited with my current setup.

I have an 18SZ, would linking the CGY760 and then linking an additional R7008SB (so I would basically have 2 RX's linked) be the solution I am looking for?

Thanks!

Steve

The ultimate goal will be direct transmitter tuning (16,18's) with no need for the box. One of the engineering challenges is writing the code for the transmitter menus to play with the language format for the gyro.

I'll get your answers Steve.

Steve,

Your best option for a complex scale model is to continue with your current set up.

Get a 760 for your sport model(s).

Couldn't they make an update for the 14SG to allow full 760 programming? I always thought the sbus channel limit was much higher than the physical switches and 3 gyro channels I believe the 14SG was designed for. The menus would need a big update to accommodate full programming but why couldn't it be done? They upped the 12FG. Couldn't the same be done for the 14SG?

To begin with, I don't have an exact answer to your question. I can only speculate that it has something to do with the fact that the 14SG is really an upgraded 8FG. The 14SG is something of a legacy, budget radio. It would surprise me if Futaba invested a lot of resources to developing new firmware for this radio. That time and money will likely be spent on the 16SZ.

Again, I'm only guessing so take it for what it's worth...

Maybe, but the more radios that can do it the more 760s they will sell. It would help sell the radio but also sell the 760 to the base of 14SG users already out there. The number of 14SGs sold and the cost to update it are one side of it. The other part is if it is even technically possible. The first part is up to futaba marketing to decide but maybe someone knows if the tech in the SG is even able to do it.

Is it 3 axis only still or did they actual do it right and make it a 6-axis. And It looks like only certain function can be programmed thru the TX and you have to connect the programmer in the back of the radio. So far what I'm reading it seems a crippled compared what you can do if you invest in full mikado system. Hope I'm wrong. I been waiting for a long time for this.

Wow this is a little high on the price:
Combo: ¥49,500 ~ $472.23
Unit: ¥40,500 ~ $386.37
Programmer unit Only : ¥12,600 ~ $120.20

For that price it better have bail-out.

The gyro has the hardware inside to do rescue/bailout. The intitial release will not have that functionality but it is planned for later on and will not come with an upcharge.
