There is no filtering down to speak of occuring in Huntsville due to timing. Product has only been in house a few weeks and the majority of it was hit with the tariff. They started selling within 20 minutes of the web store opening a few weeks later. Thus if the prices weren't immediately adjusted, loss would have immediately occurred.
I'll check on the 760 combo versus gyro alone pricing today or tomorrow. I'm at IRCHA.

FutabaUSA pricing on the 760 alone versus combo is being addressed as now. It was an error. The gyro alone is of course less.

Disappointing. I had expected the price of the gyro only option to go down, not the price of the gyro and its required programmer to go up.

At at nearly $500 for the CGY760, it is several hundred dollars more than even the most expensive alternatives.

The last gyro I bought was $250. It's price hasn't changed- yet. Admittedly it didn't include an integral receiver but it did include, Bluetooth, fail on switching, heavy duty power input, bailout, vibration logging, etc. Spending an additional $225 (nearly 100% more) for a Futaba gyro with far few features will be a difficult sell.

The timing couldn't be worse for this. There aren't many of us flying and building helicopters any more and far fewer that will spend $500 for a gyro.

Actually 760's have sold extremely well since release, but I understand that there are those who will choose to purchase something else. I have several close (NON team members) friends waiting to purchase who care nothing about BT or vibration analysis and more about how the product actually flies. I know others who want those features secondary to flight performance. It's a hobby; purchase what makes you happy. Going forward, I'm not going to comment further on any debate about pricing or features comparison. I'm going back to basics and simply support the Futaba products in use to the best of my ability.

Fair enough. I will let the subject go and return to what I do - that is, support the hobby I love and owe.

Around here I am often called airplane Bill. Not my term. It's one given to me. I try to build and fly my models in a way that represents the hobby positively. People see my craft and say "that's cool. Where can I get one." For years I pointed them to the LHS. For these reasons the local hobby shop sold to me at wholesale. The hobby shop is gone but I suppose I was a representative for the shop. I mention this because it is important to notice I support whichever brand best suits a modeler's needs.

There are an endless number of "which product is better" questions and I will continue to give advice to the best of my ability even if that steers a potential modeler away from equipment I personally use. As a representative for modeling I will continue to act in a way that I believes grows modeling.

I say I owe this hobby. Like many children I had a lot of questions about just about everything. Modeling provided a channel for those question. Because of modeling I earned a degree in Mathematics. Because of modeling I simply walked into the Navy recruiter and said I want to be a pilot - and they said OK. 12 years latter I applied to an airline and ask to work there- they too said OK. Without modeling I would not be who I am today. I owe modeling and I will continue to be an advocate for it. I will continue to act in a way that provides the same opportunities to the people following me I had as a child.

Your support of Futaba and my support of modeling are not necessarily at odds. I've been clear about my love of Futaba products and I have seen Futaba products bring great joy to many people. Because I am a representative for modeling, Futaba is often in line with my goals; however, there are clearly times when our goals diverge.

At $475 the 760R is too expensive. Ikon2 $200 with BT, Neo $250($125 basic). Well I guess that is up to marketing to decide. The early adopters will always buy the best at any price. These are the same people who a few years ago would pay $15,000 for a 4K TV. It had better sell out to these people at release. After that the sales drop off will tell how well the price was picked. Too bad. Around $300 they could sell out to the average flyer who wants the best equipment.
