I have an ICE2 120 installed in a Goblin 700 with a Kontronik 700-52. The governor works fine until I do a rapid punch out. According to the log the head speed is dropping over 400 RPM. My average power out during level flight is 64.8 but it too drops down to 49 when I raise the collective quickly.

Everything else looks normal. Any one ever seen this problem?

Throttle Settings:
Gov Mode
Set RPM
Initial Spool-up Rate: Low
Governor Gain: Low (15)
Head Speed Change Rate: Medium (5)
Battery Pack Voltage: 44.0
Motor Gearing: 9.3:1, 520 KV, Pole 10
Head Speed: 1900 at 30%

Motor Settings:
Motor Start Power: (39)
Motor timing: Low (0)
Direction: FWD
PWM Rate: 8 Khz

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Wil

What is the "% power out" parameter in the data log doing? My guess is that it is running too low. You want that figure bouncing around somewhere between 80% and 95% with an occasional clip at 100%. I think your gear ratio is too low. Not a Goblin, but I am getting good power and governor action at 1850-2100 headspeed with the same 12S but a gear ratio of 10.83 (130T main and 12T pinion).

In level flight at 1900 RPM the power out is very steady at 65.7 and spikes to 80 when banking to bring it back around.

If I zoom in on the punch outs/head speed drop it shows power out decreasing with the head speed down to 49 power out. It's like the governor shuts off. Absolutely no other parameters in the log show any kind of anomaly.

The gear ratio is correct for my pinion and I have tached the head. The tachometer and the castle log are identical.

I still think 9.3 is too low a gear ratio for a 12S electric. At 1900 head and 9.3 gearing the motor is only turning 17670, which is slow for these motors. 17670/520 = only 34 volts, while you have 44+ available. These esc's don't like to run below about 80% on the power out parameter. Maybe somebody else with your setup can chime in, but 9.3 is close to a nitro gear ratio, where we don't have as much motor rpm available to us.
