In addition to the Nordlocks, if you are using any gasket, pitch it, they compress causing the bolts to loosen. To seal it up, I have had the best success with a thin film of Permatex Ultra Black RTV.

Since using all three "solutions" I have not had any muffler come loose or leak from the gasket joint.

One RJX did split in half causing a real big leak

Can someone post a part number or link to these nordlocks? I Don't know what they are. I haven't had a muffler come loose yet but might just want to have some of these handy in case I do..

When used with Century mufflers, the OD needs to be ground down to fit in the bolt hole

On my RJX muffler on my Spectra I cleaned the muffler bolts very well with automotive brake cleaner as well as the threads in the engine. That way there is the most resistance for the bolt moving,,,no lube. Seems to work well if you have no vibrations. Nord locks I have no experience with but the concept looks great.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I would carefully inspest the threads. After repeated loosening and vibration, they may be damaged. I had to repair mine by going up one thread size.

If all is good with vibration,,,,low and the threads are not corrupted in any way the muffler will hold.

After having tried a lot of different solutions, what has been working for me on all exhausts (gasser and Saito plank engines) is some plumbers Teflon tape.
Just wrap it around the screw and tighten. retighten when the engine is hot and voila...
