Ok, so my E5 is on the way (thanks Ralph!), and I have still not chosen a motor to power it with. I do know I am flying on 6s and that I have seen most with the Scorpion 4025 1100kv, but I was wondering if there is anything else out there. Wish Hacker made a turnado in the 1100 kv range.

Might try the KDE motors. I have been running them in my E7's and am very happy. Just a thought.

Thanks,
Chris

Went ahead with Scorpion since I am not sure it will stay 6s or not.

It would work fine depending on what battery system you plan on running.

The KV of the motor you run is based on how many cell = voltage you are going to fly with.

Since the KDE 500XF-1450 is a 1450 KV motor, it would run optimal with a 6S or 6 cell battery.

Same with the KDE DIRECT 600XF-1175 motor. Since it has a little lower KV it would run optimal on a 6 or 8 cell system.

Then there is the KDE DIRECT 600XF-530 HP motor. It would run optimal on a 10 to 12 cell system.

If I was going to put one in a E5 I would chose the KDE DIRECT 600XF-1175. Why that is...... A 6 cell is very common and I have a few to play with, but if I wanted to make some crazy power I could simply go to a 8S system. The motor has the scope I like, but that's just me.

Thanks,
Chris

It is kind of the same way with the Scorpion. But I may end up stretching the e5 and if I do, then it will go on 10s and that will get a Hacker A50-10L turnado. I use the same motor except a 12L on my E7 and it works wonderful for my type of flying. Just have to see.

I run the kde 600xf 1175 in my Trex 550. Great motor but it is a little power hungry. Running ~2500 rpms I only get 5 minutes out of my 5300s. It runs super smooth and makes good power but I have flown another Trex 550 with my old z-power motor and it was just as powerfull but uses less mah in 6 mins than my KDE uses in 5 minutes. I definately like my KDE and it is nice to have a motor skinny enough that I didn't have to cut my frames to make it fit (unlike the z50), but I wish it was a little more efficient. If the new synergy has room for a little fatter motor, it might be worth shopping around to see what all of the options are.

Flew my E5 for the first time on the 1st. Went with the scorpion and it does have a TON of power. I used the 14 tooth pinion and head speeds are set at 1900, 2100 and 2400. Although I did not get to fly much (was 15 degrees and snow on ground with overcast sky made it hard to see) the thing sounded like it was ballistic!

I'm running the eflite 600 1130 kv motor. The box and manual says 1130 kv but the motor shows 1100 kv. Makes more power than a scorpion. I have a video somewhere .

Look at Xera motors. They are available again. I love mine. Light Strong efficient and run very cool. They are also a Y-wound motor which is easier on your controllers.

This is the new site. If you do a search on the web it comes up with the old Site that is not acknowledged or maintained.

If you are interested look up misskimo here on RRyder. The guys name is Tony. Great guy to talk to and has motors in stock. Keep in mind this guy works 2weeks on 2weeks off. But i believe that he still checks here on runryder.

I have a motor from him coming today. Can't wait to get it in and run it.

Cant wait to hear a report on this! I really like Savox servos that I run in my 30% Raven (Savox also makes Align's servos for them). Really like the looks of those numbers on that and being a 1200KV hitting my desired head speed would be easier.
