John's point 1 above is interesting. I wonder if break-in guidance originated from pack vendors that did not know for sure how long it would be until the pack was put into use by the modeler. The total time from cell manufacture, to pack assembly to retail channel and finally how long the pack sits on the modeler's shelf, could be a while.

Giving general guidance that covers all time frames including delays in shipping or customs could have been easier than trying to figure out which packs are close to a year in age. Just a thought.

I do break in my new lipos. I dont really have a set method I just take it easy on them when flying for a few flights. I also only charge them at 1 or 2C. I also always put them on a storage charge at the end of the day. My Hyperion 730i has a setting for this and makes it easy. I am nice to them for a few charges no need to prod the lil firebomb.

This is just what I do to each his own method.

ENGAGE!!

Break-in ..
Charge 1 pack a at a time. (don't parallel charge)
Charge at 1C.
Discharge at no more than 5C.
Repeat 5 times.
I do exactly this except I only discharge to 50% which I believe to be the correct procedure.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Show me your facts where it has been proven that a break in procedure is needed for batts and I mean scientific data. I don't want to hear "because company A or pro pilot xxx said so".
