logo 600 motor selection
I have a Logo 600 SE with a scorpion 4035-530 motor and Jive 80HV esc. This combination has served me well on 10s, but I find it progressively more difficult to locate 10s battery packs. The trend has definitely turned to 12s.

Do I need to buy a new motor to make the 12s switch?

I see Align 700mx 510kv motors for sale frequently and their price is hard to beat, but I am skeptical that there would be enough difference to bother with the swap.

Do I need a 470kv?

What if I want to leave the option of converting the 600SE to a 6003D in the future, will a 470kv work?

10s stick packs are available from TP, Hyperion, Thor, and Revolectrix that I'm aware of. Many also make stick packs using two 5s packs using some carbon plate and heat shrink.

If you're happy with 10s I'm not sure it's worth it to make the switch to 12s.

I made my own stick packs from 5s bricks. Works fine. However, the 12s packs are often less expensive lately. The 10s are out there, but often not with the brands I want to stick with or am willing to finance.Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

Where are you seeing 12s packs that are less expensive than 10s packs?

And this is very common. Additionally, here is a vendor I enjoy supporting frequently because of their great service and products, yet they don't even offer a 5s/10s option...

That's not really a fair comparison. You're comparing a 3700mah 12S 35C pack against a 4000mah 10S 45C pack. Generally speaking, the higher the C rating of the pack the more expensive the pack. Additionally, the price different is only $23.60.

Tyler, I understand the issue with 10S. There is not as much choice in pack sizes for a 2-5S pack setup compared to 2-6S packs. Price per watt-hour is the same for both though, so it's not a cost issue.

The 470kV motor will work very well in both the 600-SE or 600-3D on 12S. I'm using an Xera 4030/3Y-470 in my Logo 600-3D on 12S. I've also got a Scorpion 4035-450 motor that I've used in it.

The 510 kV motor is a bit too high for the SE IMO. You can use it on the 3D with very high (2250-2300 RPM) HS.

The greatest benefit I've noticed with 12S over 10S is longer pack life due to lower peak amp draw.

My 600SX in the works. I don't know if it is going to be efficient but it looks bad ass. I have a Logo 600SE that is running 450 Pyro 12S like a champ.
I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.
