I intend to not to use a bec but rather to power a receiver directly using a 2S lipo, but I know little about how to go about it. The receiver is an AR7000BX, the servos are HV, and I bought an on/off switch. Do I need an in-line voltage regulator of some kind? Do I need a 2S lipo specifically for use with receivers (in terms of wire connections etc)? Are there wiring harnesses available that I should consider to purchase?

TIA

The way I do it albeit with a li-fe pack is to get 2 fairly heavy duty servo extension leads and cut the female plugs off, I then solder both + and - wires of both leads to your battery connector of choice in my case I use ec3's, I then plug both leads into the rx, to handle the current. I don't use a switch as I don't trust they can handle the current and just leave the ec3 plugs accessible with the canopy on.

60% of the time, it works every time!

I agree 100% that this is the way to do it if you have enough open places on the RX to plug in the dual power leads. However, most RX/RX bat setups are buried under the canopy, so without a switch, you are forced to remove the canopy to hook up your power. But then again, most main power hookups also require the canopy to be removed.

The only heli that I fly that has the power leads out the back end that I can hook up with the canopy on is my Trex 700, but I still have to remove the canopy to hook up the RX leads.
