I like the integrated servo / bearing mounts. First time I've seen that design element.

I hope they make the canopy in yellow - actually, I like the look of the canopy.

I thought it would be a super light 550 heli coming from Blade. Since the weight listed on their site is right there with my Align 550v2 (w/556 blades, 7200BX, 8717s, 5300mah main/2200mah rx and 600 boom = 7lbs 5oz), it makes me wonder how thick the frames and canopy is. Hopefully they are nice and thick to help with crashes. I have seen some nasty crashes with the Align 550 so it would be nice to have an option that holds up better when things do go wrong. I like how the battery setup looks on the Blade with the canopy hanging out far past it. Hopefully that translates into the canopy taking most of the impact before it gets to our expensive lipos. It will be interesting to see how tough the overall heli is when it hit the ground.

Any chance one of the team guys could weigh their stock setup without a lipo to see where we are starting at? How much room is there for a bigger/different 6s lipo besides the EFlite one? I have run into a problem fitting some 6s packs in my logo 500 since the space for your flight pack is limited in a similar way.

Saw one do a face plant at the Orlando Heli Blowout brought on by a blade stop auto that went very wrong

Other than that, it looked like a pretty good little machine!

If it ain't broke, go fly some more!

How did it look after the thump? I'm wondering if this will will take a hit. I know the first release Trex-550 would shatter frames easier than most in a crash.

From what I was able to see, it wasn't all that bad considering how high it dropped from. Couldn't give you the particulars though....

Battery size
Just got mine today, mechanics are done, no electronics yet.

Very nice quick build.

As far as Lipos, the 5,000 THP packs fit with room on both sides.

Id is around 51mm +

Hope to weigh it tomorrow just before flying!!

Building one for NY boss at the lhs I work at. About half done. A couple things I don't like. Blade grips arent as free as they should be and the canopy has a lot of up and down movement. I've taken the grips apart a few times and every time they cone out the same. Starting rge tail now. Anyone else gave these problems? I'll call Horizon later today and see what they say. Chuck.

This is NORMAL. The grips will free up after a few flights, but when they are loaded (i.e. the disc is spinning) they are smooth.

The canopy does have some up and down movement, but it doesn't affect anything. All the flying we have done during the last year and a half on this model was done with the canopy just like that. zero issues.

Thanks BJames111. Build is done. All I have to do is setup up his transmitter, bind then setup the AR7200BX. Then the ever fun job of cleaning up the wiring. It was a good build and the parts fit is good and good quality. For those the pulse ultra 5000mah 6S packs both 35C and 45C batteries for fine. Test flight hopefully this after noon. Chuck

5 lbs, 8 oz
Hung my finished 550X on the scale last night, came in at 5 lbs 8 oz.

Pretty happy with that, my last drag race machine was 5 lbs 6 oz without the canopy.

Hope to get some flights in as soon as I can feel my fingers. 30°F here this morning!!!##$@@!@%$#$
