My first FBL. Trying to setup futaba 8fgh align 3g with tex 700 fbl. I manage to get most moves looking right in dir mode. Directions are correct, can't set proper pitch though. When I adjust pitch in afr setting the swash no longer goes up and down in uniform manner. When I get OUT of any mode say after turning off the back on NOT IN SETUP MODE,the swash no longer goes up and down uniform ,but goes up a little but goes to the side.
Also when I'm going up and down while in DIR mode, the throttle acts normal, but when I'm adjusting the AFR, the throttle moves too. Like I said my first and I'm thoroughly frustrated, anyone please help me. I'm real familiar with my radio, but not the FBL stuff, thanks Randy

Not for the Align units. CCPM mixing is done in the TX.
Swash type must be set to HR3 for the 700

I have it here
on hr3. The swash goes up and down proper in DIR mode and all the other settings seem to be correct like the heli when tilting forward, it responds by going back some, but after I come out of setting, the swash moves up and down erratic and side to side. Is it supposed to move up and down like a FB heli smooth and uniform after setting and programming?

I don't know what you mean by erratic?

But..... Although the swash will not act the same as a FB, the movements should be smooth. It will take the swash some time to come back to level.

When you initialize the unit, you the swash should go up and down three time and level at that. There should be no tilting.

If it tilts, there is an issue and it is not initializing properly.

Hey.

What setup do you have powering the servos etc, is it a regulator and if so what one?

From what you're describing it sounds to me like you have a power supply issue. I have seen before where while in DIR mode all works as expected, but then out of it when the power system isn't able to keep up with demand the servos twitch and also in my case the sats are flashing in unison.

The controls should move smooth and be still when no control inputs are given. As this is a converted model I'm wondering if you're using an Align 2in1 which will be the cause of your problems as its 6amp rating is too low.

I apologize for the miss information.

epic fail on my part. I won't be touching a 3G or 3GX anytime soon.

I also used an Align 3G with a 8FGH for my first move into FBL.

Here are a couple points to consider:

The radio must be initially set up as if its a CCPM Flybar heli. I was converting my 500 from FB, so it was straight forward. HR3 is used.

You must use digital servos. Analog ones will act very strangely.

The Align set up instructions are not the best but they do work. Read them through all the way before starting set up and if anything goes wrong, start over from the beginning.

Finally, once the set up is complete and out of set up mode, the swash will not necessarily follow the stick on the bench, somewhat like a heading hold tail acts. It sees the stick input, but also looks at it's internal gyros to determine the control input.

Hope this helps.

Figured it out
Finally after 10 hours. I should have reverted to experience instead of instruction books that are vague and are general in instructions.
Here's what I did wrong. I followed the wiring instructions according to the diagram in the book instead of going by Futabas channel designation for their receivers. I started thinking hmmm that receiver in the book could be any receiver. So I wired it according to futaba, not the book and pronto works great and like it supposed to. Thanks to all that chimed in to help. I may have questions later about the align governor setup with the 8fgh, thanks again Randy
