Bought the new shaft and gear for my 700DFC.

How do you remove and fit the new gear without damaging the metal tail torque tube unit(HN70053A) or bearings (HN7070)?

Tried to fit the umbrella gear to the tail torque tube unit, damaged the casing and bearings.

If you are worried about the tail shaft breaking? Than just buy the tail setup. You don't have to buy the front setup also. Keep in mind you will need to sand the umbrella gear shaft down where it goes into the bearings. It is oversized.

"How do you remove and fit the new gear without damaging the metal tail torque tube unit(HN70053A) or bearings (HN7070)?"

I put the tail casing in a toaster oven at at 300F for about 5 minutes. The bearings and Umbrella gear pushed right out.

As for putting the bearing on the new umbrella gear I use a small press and long shaft sockets to press the bearing on. No need for sanding, I did heat up the casing to 300F to put the Umbrella gear and bearings back in it. Again no issues they slid right in.
