That's funny. I see a new club rule coming. No drinking at the field, no flying over the pits, and no... helicopters (and no jets too). From this day forward we will be at least 50% yellow Cub Cadets.

Help, I can't think of anything funny or clever to say that has the phrase "glue dobbers" in it.

I'm sorry it happened to him.. He's an accomplished pilot. Full Scale and model alike. From what my spotter said it sounded like radio problems..

I was flying at the same time so i didn't see it all.
My spotter thought we were going to midair, but we weren't that close. I was over the far end of the runway and seen him.
I turned back south and heard my spotter say he crashed. I thought BS.. Landed to turn around and see a monster cloud of smoke and a little fire from where i was standing. Was told it spiriled into the ground from i'm guessing 60 to 80 feet up. Not sure. It was a pretty new E Powered plane. Looks like the battery packs were severly damaged in the crash.

The bad part was it seemed like no one got there with a fire extinguisher till the fire was almost out.. The one guy at the club that flies a turbine has a fire extinguisher with him during start up and close by during the flight. Think we might need to re think having them closer than the club house during flying..

Bummer, maybe you can have some by the flight line?

All joking aside, sorry to see the carnage.

Somewhere in this I started making fun of someones loss - and possibly their club. I posted something that assumed a lot of possibly (likely) wrong things. I really am sorry about that. It was an easy jab and it might have come at the cost of someone else's pain.

I would only say in my defense, I'm laughing with them, not at them. I've crashed far too much stuff and the house I live in is 100% make of glass so I'm in no position to throw stones. After 45+ years of toy airplanes and 50+ years on this flying field infested planet, there isn't a crash I haven't done.

New club rule. No joking about someone's burnt up plane.

No harm done.. I kinda started poking fun myself..
It would have still been crashed but if there was a extinguisher closer he might have saved more of the electronics ect..

I've torn up my share of planes and helis since 1988. Pushed the E Conversion stuff since 1995 or so.. Flew converted 700 size stuff for a long time. Never have had that bad a "Incedent" been
lucky.. Sobering to think disaster is only a heartbeat away..
