After six years, I'm back in. Never flew electric or fbl. looking to set up right. I'm giong w/ trex 550e DFC W/ 600mx,castle talon 90esc, w/out 3gx. What will I need if I go w/ spetrum dx8,(rx ?). Looks like 1 or 2 satlelits are needed, microbeast v3, what My other option would be is futaba 8fgh w/ cgy750 not sure what else. Not trying to be complacated, is one setup more solid ? Thanks.

all mentioned are good choises

8fg with cgy750 is good.
If you go with spek choose the 7200BX receiver with one DMSX satellite

but I prefer much futaba FASST systems.

Another option would be the futaba 8fg with the beastX, using a tiny Sbus receiver (R6202SBW)

or even better the 8fg with a helicommand HC3-Xtreme and tiny Sbus RX

all of the above work and well.

My vote would be the 8FG (love mine) and the mini vbar. Not a fan of the DFC head (that's another discussion.) Also worth noting, the Talon ESC does not allow for data logging which is useful for dialing in your setup and monitoring your battery performance.

another great choise.

I too like Scott1115 do not like or use DFC. Go for the regular head, more reliable, works much better, and safer.

DX8, AR7200BX receiver with built-in BeastX, a DSMx satellite receiver to go with it. The CC Talon 90 looks to be a good choice, get the Phoenix Link USB programmer if you don't already have one.

In my opinion, if you are going to go the Spektrum route, spend the extra $30 and go with a more capable FBL system. Beastx is good but for a little more, you can get either the MSH Brain or the SK-540, both of which have governors along with other features not found on the Beastx. I personally would recommend V-Bar but I will be the first to admit that I am a V-Bar fanboy so even though they are proven, my opinion is tainted.

tainted opinion? fanboy?

remember when Michael Jordan ruled the courts? Tell me who was a basketball fan that was not also a Jordan fan/

anyone that tried a vbar is the same way, is hard not to become a vbar fan

spektrum or futaba with vbar is a great combo

.
