I have been having an issue with my x50 that I can't track down. The tail makes a loud buzzing under load. I have tried numerous tail blades and even mounted an Align v2 hub and grips but the issue still persists. Today I noticed play with the rear input gear assembly in the tail case. I can move the gear in and out about 1mm and I can also spin the bearing in the tail case. I disassembled the tail tonight and noticed the bearings and spacer for the input bevel gear are not a tight fit in the tail case. Anyone else have this issue? How tight should the bearings and spacer fit in the tail case?

Outside of the other things you are checking...

Check your tail control rod guides and make sure one hasn't moved enough to allow the control rod to vibrate against the boom support rod bolt on the right side. Also, you might try putting some grease into each of the guides where the rod slides, sometimes, once worn in, the rod can resonate in the guides and the grease will dampen it and let you know that was it. I've had a distinct "buzz" from both of these things before.

CA issue...
/
/

It is a good practice to run a little CA on bearing housing.
In most cases, bearing break loose and worn out housing...

Consider CA on this bearing and shims to adjust clearance...

According to your explanations, gears worn out severely...
It is better to replace soon..

I solved one of mine playing with the free play on the tail gears but when i crashed the problem back.
One of my friends x50 blow up the tail. The tail hub cut of.
We dont have any solution yet just play with the gears and bearing inside of the boom.
If you have any solution please post it

Check the new tail, first X50 models have a model different to the new ones. A difference is the part that lock the tail unit, the old ones had an aluminum piece at the oppsite side of tail fin, the new ones have a plastic piece that bolt with the tail fin on the same side.
Sorry for my english. I hope you can understand what I mean.

Best regards.

That diagram I posted is out of the E820 Manual and not for the X50.
