I have been trying to finish this Huey for more years than I can count. Unfortunately my job kept me busy 16 hrs a day seven days a week, but as I get close to retirement I have slowed down and started enjoying my hobby.
copterdoctor talked me into electrifying one of my Century predators as he had done himself. I haven't got bad advice from Emile yet so I converted the Pred and insrted it into the Huey.
It is awesome especially with no more smoke and oliy mess to worry about.
I finally got it together this past weekend and even Angie came to to inspect it and video tape the test flight for me.
Here are some pics of the mechs and the Huey. Now I can finish the detailing and painting and I can't wait!
I will post a video next.

Here is a video Angie did for me. She missed the spool up with that nice turbine sound but I forgive her

Looking good makes me want to dust off the molds and build one with mech to hide inside.

Hi Darrell,
I am so happy with it. Your brand fuselage is so mechanics friendly that even with my limited experience I believe I could install just about any mechanics in there. I know you were probably wondering if I would ever get this Huey done LOL.

Hey Mike, thanks!
It took angie actually insisting I get in the shop and finish this Huey and Emile's encouragement that got me going. I am glad I did.
Hope to see you at IRCHA again next year. your attitude and your helis were an inspiration to me also.

Darrell, BTW...
I toyed with the idea of trying to make a set of hidden mechanics but they would take forever for me to do it

I would love to have a set of scale mechs in my Bell 407 so if you ever do a set I am waiting with cash

Looks great Roy! It's good to see that you finally took off enough time from work to get her airborne Like I have any leg to stand on...

thanks tintmaster!

epryor:
I flew for almost four minutes first flight, landed and settled my nerves
then I started her back up and flew for another three and half minutes and I am sure could have gone on for a few minutes more cause the batteries acted like they had just been charged when I spooled her up for a few seconds after the second flight.

I'm glad I got this much done this past week because my job is sending me to New York tomorrow for the rest of the week

I guess I spoke too soon LOL

Very nice.

May I ask why you left the fan on? Is it to move some air around the fuse? If not, it seems like some wasted energy.

Thanks,
John

Looks like the fan is part of the clutch adapter...

Barry,
Yes, but it does come off. I was just curious and thought maybe there was a reason it was left on.

Thanks,
John

Yes the fan comes off the hub. It's mounted with four screws. Normally I take the fan off as I did with my raptor conversions.
I thought it might move some air around inside the fuse. Thought of whether it wasted energy but since there is no shroud and the fuse is big I thought it might help.
I am open to any insight and recommendations as I am still in the learning stage with electrics.

Thanks for the input
