I guess I really don't have to say this, but that doesn't sound good!
heli made a loud crack/bang sound and proceeded to fall to ground
Did you figure out where that crack/bang came from? Does the ESC smell like fried electronics?
I've changed out the motor, 3GX and the satellites.
Seems to rule out any of those as being the problem.
One thing you haven't told us about is how you are supplying power to the electronics. With the HV ESC, you must have some form of other voltage regulator.
What kind is it, how is it wired to the battery, how is power being supplied to the FBL controller and other components?
Can you post clear pictures of your installation, including power connections to the FBL controller.
Are you still using the 3GX controller? Are you using any modified settings, or have you gone with the stock values? Are you using Spektrum satellites, and are you using two of them? Are they both the same type (i.e. both DSM2 or both DSMx)? Or are you using a separate standard receiver with its own satellite.
I lose power to motor halfway into flight. ESC data shows my throttle signal goes crazy just before power loss.
That's not good. Can you post some of the log files that show this happening?
If your transmitter is going nuts, that would be a problem, however it seems to be OK with other models. You have a DX8...are you using the vibrating alarms; if so does the problem happen when the alarm is going off?
Batteries? Healthy or not?
