Oh, yeah, I know the "original" SIK place. Unfortunately, I also spent way too much time down in Bridgeport, aka Bilgeport. What a nasty cesspool of an area...

You KNOW you're in a bad area when one of the cross streets coming into the facility is named Iranistan.

OMG

http://www.horizonhobby.com/product...-kit-BLH5525#t1

$639.99 and comes with no servos, no FBL unit or rec sat, no battery, no charger or even a stitch of wiring or tools to assemble.

An no radio obviously as is BNF.

All it is, is the frame an mechanical parts and a motor and ESC and BEC

Then here is the combo that comes with all that: http://www.horizonhobby.com/product...-combo-BLH5525C

And love this price $999.99 as I guess that way its not like it costs $1,0000.00

Also took a look through the manual an don't see any info on a Gov for the ESC or any settings actually. Nor for the BEC.

So no Gov or other ESC adjustments, and no BEC volt Adj or adjustments for LVC points with either? Like how the ESC is so cheap doesn't even have a BEC.

Googled the PN's and got nothing so can't say all that for sure but all in all look like throw away parts even if you buy the kit.

And get a load of that tinny tail frame and puny tail slider....on a 550?

Noticed think even comes with plastic tail blades as CF are on upgrade list.

Nothing but another spend a ton on Hope-Up parts machine to make it worth something that isn't just going to fall apart.

Can get a tried and true Trex 550, with a actually DFC head and with all the electronics of tones better quality all for $200.00 less right here: http://www.performanceplusrc.com/se...550E-DFC/Detail

An btw, that vendor will sell it to you an lower the price accordingly for what ever part you don't want in the kit.

Pffft, and here I was worried about this.

It definitely *looks* good to the eye... And the video looks like it flies great... But they all do in the promo videos. It's real life that's different story.

You get it, open the box, and realize it's the same crappy **** quality that HH and Blade is known for.

And only a thousand bucks!!! I'll take three of them!!!!

pass.

I basically like everything about it. I would go for the combo. This will really give Trex 550e a run for the money.

Smart going with the 550 as the first in the series. It is the perfect size heli for the electric crowd. Requires only one battery and will do everything you could ask.

Well one thing I will say is Horizon sure enough have cultivated the customer base of people out there that would actually think and post something just like this.

Am sure like all before that no matter how its built, will make them lots of money.

Oh wow, well that total changes my mind as Horizon made of video of it and in it, it doesn't fly like crap.

For sure I could go back and show all the ones that they have done for all their past failures that did show them for all they actually were so obviously this one is completely different.

Like I said...a 550-600X with a dash of their home-branded "Pro" flavoring.

Yeah, these things will be flying off the shelves...not... This will be a "more money than brains" beginner's heli who doesn't know any better and that's what his LHS talked him into. The people who actually know what they're doing at the proper level aren't going to be buying a Blade. Not at those prices.

Not even a single peep about it, from what I say, over on HF. Is this thing actually a "nuts and bolts" kit or an ARF airframe that's a "kit" because you have to install the RX, servos, etc?

Oh I think they will sell lots of them.

Bottom line is and most simple put, the hard core Horizon fans who by Blades and most likely will be the ones who get this one, do not do so as they are the best and for the money they spend stuff they can buy.

Won't go into all the details of why it is they do buy them as that would take to long (and quite frankly would be hard for me as I really don't understand them)

But they will.

But in saying that, I also agree with all you said too.

From what I've seen of things now, both are kits in need of assembly.

The one they call a Kit is missing most of the electronics and the Combo although missing the word kit has those electronics but both look to be in need of assembly.

The link to what looks to be the same manual for both is here:

Blade misses the mark again. I can't believe they would bring a 550 kit to market at this price point. No servos, no flybarless control, not much of anything for $639.00. Crazy money. Blade has introduced many a person to heli flight with there microlite and that is where they should stay. I'm sure this heli fly's good but for the equipment they are offering it is not worth the money. The loaded 550 (Pro combo) is way overpriced for the market place. They are given up one of the advantages that Blade heli's always had. Completely built. Just my two cents.

BJ says it does have a governor, but it's not as adjustable as something like a Castle. Wonder why it's not addressed in the manual. I haven't looked through it myself, so perhaps you missed it?

Also, he confirmed it's a full kit that requires total assembly, which is good news. He said parts supply shouldn't be an issue, as we historically have experienced, because some big changes were made in that area. We'll see...

Wonder how that motor will hold up. That's been a pretty big weak point for them. Wonder if it's still an E-flite motor.

Before knocking it, come to an event where we or any team member is flying a 550x, and ask for a flight. I think you'll be impressed.
