Align ESC abrupt start
I'm flying an Align 500 with the stock 70A speed controller.
It works fine, but it starts so abruptly, even in Soft Start mode.

I'd be advancing the throttle stick, and it's like, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, still nothing, then it's BAM! the blades start spinning abruptly. It doesn't go to full throttle obviously, it's just a sudden jerk that causes the blades to nearly fold in their grips.

Is there a trick to working around this?
I feel I should post a video just to find out if this is typical of the Align ESC.

A bit odd.

Check your throttle servo output on the TX servo monitoring page to see if when you advance the throttle, the output signal is jumping.

Also, for grins, plug in a servo in the RX throttle to see if the servo is jumping. (It would indicate an RX issue)

Checking these will removed the TX and RX from the equation if they are ok.

BTW, most local friends flying 500s dont use the align esc.

I have all the wires glued in pretty solid with Shoe Goo, so it would take a fair amount of effort to swap some wires around with servos and what not. I don't want to unplug anything right now.

I see nothing out of the ordinary on the servo monitor on my 8FG.
I have a fairly linear throttle curve in Normal (0-85)

I think I'm above the 2nd white tick mark from the bottom on the 8FG throttle gimbal before the motor starts turning.

I don't think it should matter, but is it running normal or high speed mode?

If the ESC prefers a normal signal, it may be jumpy on HS.
I know is a big deal when using analog servos versus digitals on HS, analogs will work erratic, and jumpy.

I've tried all 3. Fast is unacceptably jerky, Medium is jerky but tolerable, Slow is mostly smooth, but less than desirable.

Right now it's on Medium

42° ain't bad. That's summer weather.
I'm comfortable when it's 15° to 20°, but it takes a few weeks of those temperatures to get used to it.

I'm like one of those guys you see at a Packer playoff game in January with no shirt (haven't actually done it, but I could).
I went to the "Return To Lambeau" party the day after the Super Bowl two years ago. Had a high of about 5° with the wind chill at about -10° in the stadium. I was outside for 4 hours and it didn't even phase me.

I charged a battery, took it outside, set up a camera on a tripod, and guess what? I couldn't replicate the problem. Not saying the problem is gone, though.  ▲

I don't understand how those folks can take that much cold. It's not bad if you're moving, but man it gets cold when you're standing still.
