Flybarless Systems for Gassers
I have a question concerning Helicommand FBL Systems, I just bought my first gasser, Radikal G30 FBL/TT W/ G231E. Heliconnand seems to be the most suggested system to use on a gasser, I see several models offered: HC3 basic, HC3 Extreme and HC3SX W/ recovery feature. I have been flying Nitro for about 2 years and fly more F3C style than 3D. I am currently using Align 3GX and BeastX systems, but from what I have read, Helicommand is most resistant to vibration. I am not interested in the model W/ the recovery system, so would the Basic be all I need, or should I go with the Extreme? I am new to Gas in Helis and would appreciate any suggestions.

fbl controllers
I use both on my different helicopters. Depends on what you want. Just be sure to use the 3m tape on either.

Skookum works, BeastX works, GY750 works, GT5 works, VBar works, Helicommand works

all of these (and probably more) have been successfully flown with gas motors. I've personally flown the Skookum, GY750, and GT5 systems

never flown the helicommand but their reputation is good

Helicommand
The Xtreme is all of the HC3SX except it doesn't have the Captain Rescue feature. So its on par with the other flybarless systems out there and their units is just one square inch with no other parts, sensor in enclosed inside.

I myself use the HC3SX on all my helis, yes it will cost 2x as much as the extreme, but the feeling of having Captain Rescue ride with me all the time give me an additional comfort feeling even though I generally fly quite good and don't need it on a daily basis.

The thing is, you never know what might happen, flying into the sun, getting disoriented flying in the evening shadows, or even having a tail rotor loss. A flick of the switch will level your heli instantly and make it climb for the first 2 scenarios, for the 3rd one you just burp it for a second to get level, and take over the auto from there.

All up to you what I'm trying to say is that if you get the Xtreme model because you don't want Captain Rescue then you will have a complete helicommand system with all the functions besides that.

Best regards,

-=>Raja.

I used a standard Align 3G system on my last Vario Benzin and it seemed to work fine.

Blueline Vbar has been rock solid from the very first flight on my Whiplash. I think the flybarless systems have about all crossed the threshold of success with the gas helis.Happay Happay Happay...

Hey thanks guys for your information, there are a lot of FBL systems out there now, and after a bad experience W/ the AR7200BX on a X50 Titan (using their tape) I guess I got gun shy. It works great now with the 3M tape but didn't want to experience that again! I know the gassers vibrate more as I fly them on fixed wing. From what I have read (and experienced) it seems like the tape is critical to the preformance of the units.
Just starting the build so I am sure I will have more questions before done. But looking forward to flying a heli for $3.50 gal. vs $30.00

Thanks Again

If the Helicommand with the rescue feature saves you just once from a really bad crash it would have paid for itself. I hope to do this to my Spectra this coming year and keep my old 1005 pretty much stock. They both {Spectre and 1005} fly so differently but both are a pleasure to fly.Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Along the same lines to the OPs question and since he flies with a DX8... What are the thoughts on using the sat receivers. Is two enough for large gasser helicopters with carbon frames?
Any experience with brownouts out there?
Any recommendation on placement?

Helicommand Base, Xtreme, or SX. I have them all. Each flies the same, just gain added features as you progress up the product line. One prevented crash on a gasser will indeed pay for the SX upgrade.

Very vibration resistant
Solid one piece aluminum case
Unlimited mounting options
Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.
