Just had a strange thing occur with a 750 that was removed from an N600 and installed on a new X50.

We have set up several 750's successfully with the assistance of Todd Bennett and Dr. Ben and they work great.

This was a one time glitch situation.

After dozens of checks prior to the maiden flight, everything, including AVCS mode on elevator, aileron, and rudder were working perfectly.

On lift off, the helicopter was almost uncontrollable on elevator, wildly pitching forward and then back. I was able to keep it somewhat level and hit the kill switch without damage.

Without switching off the power, we checked the heli on the bench and discovered that AVCS mode was locked out on elevator even when commanded by the 12Z and indicated by the 750 as engaged.

Cycling the power brought the 750 back to normal operation.

It is unknown whether the AVCS mode was locked out when the heli was powered up prior to the maiden flight or it became that way after power up and before flight. We had not checked that function on the way to the pad.

One other wild card that is different from our other setups using 750's. I am using HV servos, 255's, a 256, and a 3051 with a JR to Dean's connector plugged into a 6203 Rx. Our previous setups ran Fromeco regulators with two power supplies directly to the 750 units.

Any chance that a low voltage situation caused by only one power source to the 6203 could be to blame?

Thanks for any suggestions/assistance.

Bob

I hate those kind of problems. It may never happen again but you will be worring about it until you can make it happen on demand.

What battery are you running?

If the Receiver, CGY750, and servos are all Futaba what is The JR to Deans connector for?

I'm running the CGY-750, 62303SB Receiver, Torq HV servos in cyclics and tail, and a 3051 on throttle all powered by a Pulse 3600ma 2S battery. Iv'e had no problems with this setup. There are serveral of us at the field running this same setup.

Just a non polarity tabbed Futaba connector that I used to connect the Dean's lead to the 6203. I just had one with good leads on it.

Todd recommended sending the 750 to Futaba for replacement or at least a check.

I am putting another 750 in the X50 to try it.

This was definitely a glitch in the 750. The screen indicated that it was in AVCS mode but was not. Cycling the power reinstilled normal operation.

You're right about one thing. These type of problems are always the worst, when they cannot be replicated on the bench.

Battery was a Sky Lipo 2200, fully charged.

We are running six or seven 750's with no issues on other heli's.

Hopefully they just replace it and you won't have to worry about it.

Follow up. I put a different 750 on the new X50 and flew it today with the same HV/Rx set up. It flies great. I really like this heli.

Sending it in is always a good idea. At the very least I would reflash the firmware. Sorry for the late reply; I have been out of town and then Sandy arrived.
