All,

I'm sure I'm missing something very simple to make the 750 work. I have a TT 30V2, with 9351 servos and a 9256 on the t/r.

To date I've set up four 750's but they all were eCCPM. The .30 is the first CCMP I'm setting up and is different. I'm have a little difficulty getting it set up.

It's a mechanical mix machine and I've selected the H4-00 swash on the 750. The H1-1 swash type is been selected on the 8FG.

When I move the collective/throttle stick on the Tx the ail/ele also move. The question is, how do I inhibit the ail/ele from moving when using the collective/throttle stick on the Tx? Like they say, it's awefully simple when you know it and simply aweful when you don't know!

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Switch to swashtype NORMAL in the swashset basic menu in the 750.

The .30 is the first CCMP
The Raptor 30 is NOT CCPM!!
they all were eCCPM
And stop using that term eCCPM. It isn't a thing.

I have another question relating to the set up for the Raptor 30.

I notice when I go into the Swash basic menu and select pitch/ail/ele and try to increase or decrease the precentage of pitch etc, nothing changes. The servo have no more or no less travel. Yet on my Raptor X50FBL/G4 the travel on the servo would increase/decrease.

Questions:

1. Set up for main blade pitch and cyclic pitch must be done mechanically; therefore, I'm assuming the resolution as it relates to the spacing of the balls on the servo horns is not as critical as it is on my X50FBL or G4?

2. For example, the aileron servo horn, the distance from ball to ball is 16.3mm. This separation of the balls is narrower than on my other FBL's ,models, will this affect the resolution in the 750? Is there another menu to use to increase the servo throw within the 750? Should I configure the balls on the servo horns back to a 21mm separation?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The swash AFR menu does nothing in NORMAL swash mode.

Set up your static pitch in rate/normal mode (meaning NOT AVCS) for the cyclic gyros with gain set to 0% and the transmitter AFR/DR set at 100%. Try to get 9-10D of cyclic pitch, adjusting your servo arm radii to get this. Values for AFR/DR/ATV above 100% will yield no greater cyclic range; this is all about mechanical set up.

After getting that baseline, the rest of the gyro tunes as usual.

Set the mechanics like you said.

Did a first flight. The Raptor 30 yawed very, very quickly as though the t/r gyro gain was to high. I decreased the gain and no change, the yaw continued.

I've only set 750's up for 600/700 size machines. Is there something fundamental that I'm missing on the set up?

Comment:
Mechanically I have 10 degrees of collective pitch, 7 degrees of cycle pitch, the motor is not rich and running great.

Any suggestion welcome.

The 750 tail gyro sets up in typical fashion. If you have tail wag in hover below say 60% gain, you need to look for outside causes such as binding anywhere in the system, etc. What tail servo are you using? What servo arm radius?

Ben Minor

PS: 7 degrees of cyclic is inadequate for decent flip and roll rates and will not give the 750 enough control headroom for proper stops and to prevent coasting in certain situations.

The servo is futaba 9256 and the radius is 13.5mm.

I'll make the change to the aileron and increase the cylcic pitch to 9 degrees, where it was orginially.

Go through everything to hunt for a bind. R30/50 tails work fine and the airframe is not vibration prone, so something is annoying the 750. I am a bit less suspicious of vibration because the cyclic gyros are working OK.

I checked the T/R system and servo, push rod, etc., and everthing was fine....no binding.

BobC1 and I spent about 5 hrs at the field tweaking the 750 on the 30 and it's flying very nice now.

I bought a set of NPH wide cord T/R blades and initally used them. I replaced them with a more moderate .30 T/R blade and things immediately improved. I ended up with the I and D gains listd below and things started to really lock in.

Set D gains and I gain to 50

On the Radio
Ail/Ele Gyro gain 80 %
T/R 60%

It's really amazing how much of a difference the FBL system is on a .30 compared to the flybar system. Removing the FBL really gives the .30 much great performance.

Dr. Ben, thanks for all your help!!!!!

Very good!

Those NHP tail blades were just giving you too much mechanical gain in the tail gyro system.

Enjoy it.
