I have a Spectrm Module in a Fut 10C transmitter. Does anyone know if the length of the co-axial cable from the module up thru the antenne housing is critical - like the length of the wire on 72 recievers ? 'Cuz the cable pulled out of the threaded nut. I trimmed & re-soldered it once - no problem. Got caught on transmitter case & broke off again. Trimmed & soldered 2nd time & test flite on the 130 went fine. Switched to the 450 which uses an AR7200BX & it went into failsafe 30 sec into flite. Fell from only 3-4 feet up damage wasn't bad, but i'm concerned about trying it again...

Anyone know ??

No it isn't. If you want a real improvement you can get a 2.4 antenna and screw it directly to the back of the module and get rid of the wire altogether.

I'd get the actual antenna since you keep snagging the wire. I use the Futaba 2.4 module in my 10CHP.

I range check would have prevented this.

Thats right. Repaired wire, new antenna or replaced module, range check to insure the health of your system.

Thanks all.
@ Dood - range chek & flite check on the 130 went allrite, so I PREsumed it was OK for the 450 also. MY BAD
Im gonna make me some sort of strain relief on the cable, 'cuz I swap back & forth between the Fut & Spectrum modules. Prob weakening connection thru all the handling . . .

If you are swapping back and forth, get an antenna that screws right into the back of the Spektrum module. That's what I did on my 14mz when I was swapping between FASST and Spektrum. Made it simple and quick.

i still have only dsm2 stuff, so I'm not certain myself. but, doesnt the AR7200BX require DSMX sats? are you flying sats on your 450 or just the unit alone? or has your module been upgraded to DSMX?

if it ain't broke, break it.

You put Dsmx sats on it and it all works in dsm2 mode. Although with a small heli like that there is no reason to use a sat.

The modules can't do Dsmx, and can't be upgraded.

If I remember correctly, those connectors are RPSMA. You should be able to find a 2.4 antenna with and RPSMA connector on it and you could screw it directly into it without the coax.

No SATs - just the unit itself. It don't get too far away for my Old eyes
The whole prob may be 'cuz when I bared the sheath on the inner strand, It may have exposed too much of the inner & it contacted the housing - whick is attached to the Outer wrap. REALLY hard to see when your soldering using a needle point & thru a M3 hole . .

2nd flite test over weekend - After a range chek

Added a strain-relief, so wire wont get tugged, but still may get a thread-on antennae just in case..
