Did you first set the throttle range on the ESC?

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

This is not a setting that is programmable with the programmer. Look on the instruction sheet, there is a section for throttle range setting. You have to do it via stick and beeps.

To calibrate the throttle on a hobbywing ESC you use tx stick programming.

First make sure you have a flight mode setup with a linear throttle curve 0-50-100.

Move the throttle/collective stick to 100% and power on the heli. You will hear a couple of beeps confirming that it has read 100% throttle position. Immediately after the beeps after finished move the throttle stick to 0% and you should hear some more beeps. Calibration is now done and the ESC is armed and will spool up..

Id recommend removing the blades just to be 100% safe.. The ESC shouldnt arm during this procedure but if you have something backwards or there is a fault with the ESC you dont want to have it spooling up with the blades on..

big +1 there - don't forget to take the tail blades off too so they don't take you out.

Thanks for all the info.
I purchased the ESC used in basically new condition from this site but it id not come with a manual. I should have looked online for the manual but thought all parameters were covered in the programming box which I already had.
I have calibrated the ESC to sense the throttle range as described earlier in this post and the manual.
I still can't hear a change in sound from the motor when trying to set the high end in the gov II tab.
I said screw it and flew anyway yesterday. Throttle hold works,Bailout wroks on my newly created Idle up 3 switch on my JR11X.

what does setting the max throttle setting do anyway???
