I am a nitro-guy and have been considering convert to an electric heli. The e-550 seems pretty much R30 plus X50 updated accessories. The only problem is I want a FBL version. I have found the TT FBL conversion kit for R30/50 family. But I am not sure if this conversion kit will work on an E-550 for the swashplate is 120eccpm on the conversion kit while the E-550 comes with 140 eccpm. I'm also not sure if the mainshafts in the conversion kit and stock E-550 are compatible. Has anyone tried to convert this bird to FBL using the conversion kit? A little help please!

What they really need to market is a bare flybarless kit for us that already have lots of electronics.

An RJX head would probably be the best way to go. I have one on an old E620 and it’s been excellent for many hundreds of flights. In fact that helicopter is my most reliable and durable heli – it’s always ready to go.

Thanks Ben For the instant reply

But for some reason I could get the TT conversion kit a lot cheaper than RJX rotor head. the main shaft for E550 is also the same as R30/50 I kinda wish to add the autorotation kit as well

I like the features and pricing on this heli - I think they will sell a lot of them; FBL or not.

I was looking at picking up a Trex 550E FBL, but this is very tempting and with Tower Discount about $250 cheaper...

I know FBL is all the rage, but a well setup FB'd bird this size is a heck of a flyer and easily tune-able to one's preferences...

Why would anyone buy a flybar helicopter these days? I have not flown a flybar helicopter for 3 years.

I definitely think that they will sell more without the flybar.

I think they'll buy it Ben because to touch any other 550/600-sized electric FBL heli and get it ready to fly is going to cost a heck of a lot more.

Align T-Rex 550E V2 3GX = $850

Align T-Rex 600EFL Pro Super Combo Flybarless = $990 (I list this because the Raptor can swing 620's - Albeit with only 6s vs. 12s)

Thunder Tiger Raptor E550S = $600

The Align has better cyclic servos, but that's still a lot of cash... You could go with the E550s, grab four lipo packs and be at the same cost as the 550E.

Just my interpretation of what Ace is going for here...

You can get a fusion 50 fbl head for 98 dollars bolt it on and be ready to go. Heli Direct has it in stock all bearings and feathering spindle inter change with Trex 600 so parts are easy to access.

True GMac - I've also seen TT's head as low as $125 as well, and you can pick up a brand new in box 3GX for under $100...

My thoughts on the outrage head was parts cost spindles and all bearings would be on hand at almost any hobby shop you walked in.
The head holds up very well also. I have a couple of helis with this
head with many flights on them and zero issues with the head other
than the dumb thumb every so often.

Where can I find servo specifications? Are they fast enough for flybarless?

Why don't they just include an FBL head with it?

TT has an FBL unit GT 5.1 they could sell with it too.
