What are the signs of a bad clutch.......today I noticed my goose idle too high and head speed don't seem right, at half stick it sounds like is over speeding but the blades are slower................maybe the clutch is not engaging?

I've would appreciate any help from the experts gasser owners here

Thank you

Sounds like your clutch is slipping would be time for a new liner

Those clutch liners from Airstar last a really long time. One Mongoose I have doesn't engage until about 1/4 throttle and another engages just above idle. It's real obvious if the clutch is slipping just by the sound of the engine, listen if the engine over revs when you apply full collective (when in a hover). I would inspect the clutch real closely; look for cracks or possibly oil leakage in that area will cause slipping. If you can take some close up pics of the clutch and post them, that would help too.

I took it apart and I didn't see traices of oil or cracks and the lining seems to be Ok................what about if I have the pitch settings to high, I think at hover I got it at 95 on the TX............would the engine rev like that? or is it all on the clutch

95 at hover
Sounds like you need to start over at the basics. Get the manual on the Mongoose and go from there. Do you have a pitch gauge? If not, you will need one. Sounds like a setup problem over a clutch problem.

Pitch Settings
Hello Clever Heli, I do have a Vario gage, and my settings are; low -6 mid +6 and top +10 according to the goose manual.......my Airtronics TX RDS8000 doesn't have swash mix like most radios................I have to go to my end point ajustments top & bottom to raise or lower the swash plate to be able to accomplish this so;

at low I have about 30% P1 45% P2 hover 95% in order for me to get +6 at mid stick and 120% at the top to be able to get +10 on my pitch gage.
