I tried my first autos today with a 550V2 and I wasn't very impressed. I was running 556 Rail blades and was able to auto it fine a few times, but it had much less power/lift than I was expecting at the bottom and not much room for error. I flared one a bit early and hardly recovered. My 600N always autoed pretty good with plenty of room for error... even when the auto hub was locked up

Does anyone else have this problem? I did a few autos with my 450 too (both the 450 and 550 are flybarless with V2 heads and 7200 RXs) and I was able to auto it pretty easily in the same conditions. It wasn't as easy as the 550 obviously, but it wasn't as much of a difference as I would suspect considering the size difference. The winds were pretty heavy today too, I am not sure if that was a factor.

With the winds being a factor were you into the wind or with it? Autoing into the wind is much easier the wind provides extra lift.

I was autoing into the wind, not with it.

I have done lots of autos before with other helis (mostly flybarred). I was just expecting some better hangtime with the 550. This is a new heli with only around 10 flights. Everything moves/spins pretty smoothly.

Maybe the Rail blades are on the light side? I know my 326 Rails are quite light to say they are FBL blades and it shows in how quick the cyclic's are! Try some edge FBL or Radix.

60% of the time, it works every time!

My 550 auto's way better than the 450's. I am running Mavricks. I will trade you for those Rails.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

Funky Trex...

ALL THOSE PROBLEMS AND THEN SOME...

real issue was the frame flex, caused gear stripping, one way lockup, bad autos ETC ETC.

solution...

v2 one way bearing, 600 boom supports, and install a motor mount VERTICAL right IN FRONT OF the bearing blocks for the main mast and watch all your troubles go away...

no more lock up / gear strip / frame flex and it autos like a 700

using edge 553 fly-bar blades, never did like the FBL

hope this helps

Be sure the juice is worth the sqweeze
