The political sphere is definitely heating up on twitter as liberals are getting nervous with Romney gaining traction. Twitter has become a way for people to express their thoughts to the world and for some people, there is little reasonable thought put into what they are saying. Many anti-Romney tweets are popping up threatening to incite riots should the Presidential hopeful beats incumbent Barrack Obama.
While most elections have a certain amount of discord involved, the coming 2012 election seems to be turning up the heat a notch. Twitter, the popular social media network that allows for people to "tweet" thoughts across the web to followers and directly to others twitter accounts has become a place to spread discontent and hateful thinking against Mitt Romney. In August, many tweets against Romney included calls for assassination.
Elections Examiner, Joe Newby provided some of these tweets in his article New tone: Liberals on Twitter call for death of Mitt Romney
"I wana shoot mitt Romney (sic)," threatened "Brick Chaney."
"Someone shoot Mitt Romney," tweeted "bow_Tye."
"Ruaridh Pond" wrote: "Someone needs to shoot Mitt Romney. I'd pay d**n good money."
"[S]eriously," tweeted another user, "Mitt Romney needs to die."
User "Gavin" expressed hatred for Mormons and said he would "f*****g freak" and "die" if Romney won.
"Mitt Romney just needs to die, he is going to do no good for our country, (sic)" tweeted "Fish Taco."
Another user said she would support Obama "because [I] want to shoot [R]omney in the face. (sic)"
As if this wasn't bad enough twitter is now full of tweets calling for riots should the President lose the election. While these people my have very little understanding of the English language or grammar in general they certainly know how to spread hateful words in attempts to rile up like minded individuals. Joe Newby has kept up on the offensive language on twitter in his latest article Obama supporters on Twitter threaten to riot if Romney wins election.
It seems the Anti-Romney movement doesn't stop there. There is a twitter account specifically for anti-Romney discussion. One tweet even uses "gay" as an insult while trying not to offend gays stating "its my opinion and I have the right to say that, I am not against gays, Romney looks gay." The tweets go on about everything from the attacks in Lybia to how the owner of the account wants to buy his son a Porsche for his 16th birthday.
It may be ignorance, or it may be desperation, but it seems that supporters of Obama are becoming more and more hateful and are using social media and the internet to attempt to spread hate and anger.http://www.examiner.com/article/twi...cid=db_articlesThere you have folks, the Democrats are just not civilized.
