Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find it in the search: How does one retain the foam air filter in the air filter base on the Pantera? My foam fits well but does not have enough resistance in the base for me to have confidence it wont just fall out. I was wondering about a small ring of RTV around the edges or similar.

We've tried several things. First, a ring of double tick tape. Worked . . . for a while then lost its 'sticky'. An adhesive like silicone or Goop works really well but it too permanent. Instead, I have found a better way. It's a simple loop of a thin rubber band, with a twist in the middle, such the both ends hook over the hard plastic edge of the air filter base.

This works nicely because it keeps the filter element in place and yet allows easy removal of the filter for both washing it periodically and for access to the carb throat so you can run a little after run oil through the engine at the end of the day's flying.

I still have my original Pantera which is the only one I bothered to install the air filter on. It uses the thin piece of double sided tape that came with the kit and I have never had an issue with it coming out. That has to be 5 or 6 years old by now?
