it seems that the Funkey fuse would do better with the tail blades facing the usual right, not left like the full scale Hughes does.

If I keep the tail as the original full scale, the mechanics will need to be lowered inside of the fuse (for the rod to go over the top of the boom) which will bring the head really close to the top of the fuselage.

Also, the tail rod, ball link/control arm will exit from the top through a long slot, which will look horrible.

So... keep it scale and deal with the shortcomings or go off scale for simplicity's sake?

What do you think? Your opinion will be most appreciated.

to position the tail blades on the left side like the real heli you will need one of these bell cranks. They can be used either left or right. With this one you can still run your push rods at the bottom.

It's a site in Germany, these folks are very helpful and will answer any questions you may have... I have ordered many parts from them. Excellent customer service.

I have their bell carnk setup on my MD500 Tow defender 600 size

Jose,

Nice looking helicopter. Are you still spinning your main rotor clockwise? It looks like your tail blades are running counter clockwise. If so how does it effect the performance? Most RC helicopters are spinning the tail blades up into the main rotor wash rather than down.

That link you provides also had some very interesting elevated tail setups for belt drives.

Yes, I'm running the mains clockwise, if you take a look at the real heli. The one I'm using as a model for mine... the tail blades are also counter clockwise.... I know the mains on the real heli are counter clockwise but that's something I'm not doing to mine....

I flipped the tail rotor on my MD500 to the correct side and have had no issues at all.
I think that change is more noticeable than which way the main rotor spins IMHO

I wish I had known about that bellcrank before as it would clean up the tail rotor area.

will work fine either way.. I have been doing it on many for years and really saw no difference...
As far as linkage on the "correct" side..? not an issue either...

Thanks for your help guys. I'll go for that bellcrank!

I tested the mechanics in pod and boom with 2 and 5 bladed heads, with the main rotor spinning counter clockwise and the tail on the left with no issues at all.
