450 DFC Main Rotor Housing Play
I have just converted my Flybar Pro 450 to the DFC flybarless part H45163. It now has vertical play between the housing and the mainshaft. It appears that the screw is too small for the hole that is drilled through the main rotor housing.

Has anybody experienced this problem or do I just have a bad main rotor housing?

Yes it has the solid shaft with threading on the end only. I also have tried different bolts just to make sure it's not the bolt.

Mine didn't have any up and down play. Align has already revised the headblock for the 450 DFC (insert "I hate the constant Align revisions rant" ). I picked one up but haven't tried it yet. It does look a lot nicer than the "old" one. It should clamp pretty good to the main shaft with the new design.

Potential solution
I could be totally wrong here, but do you have the mainshaft upside down? The align writing is supposed to be on the bottom,, I've made simple mistakes like this before

The main rotor housing link funky trex posted doesn't look anything like the housing I got with my DFC kit upgrade kit, already a new one,, sheesh

The hole size for the upper and lower main shaft are the same, but my main shaft is installed correctly.

It was an good idea though.. Thx

Silly question, maybe, but are you sure the head is moving and not the whole shaft? You can end up with vertical play if you don't use the right shim washers.Gerry Cullan,

It is most definitely in the head block. I just removed the main shaft from the helicopter and removed the blade grips and spindle from the head block. I put the head back on the main shaft and I can move the main shaft up/down or side to side and rattle the head block on the shaft..

Well, I'd suggest you might have a defective part. The head that came in the DFC conversion kit that I bought fit the shaft like a glove.Gerry Cullan,

I had the same thing. I only saw it after 30 plus flights. I thought it was a worn shaft which seemed weird to me. I changed the shaft and bolt due to a bad auto. There is no vertical play now. I still don't like the amount of flex at the end of the blades it seems to be in the blade grips. This is the first time I have heard of an ALIGN upgrade that seems like what I need. My head is the 1st version.I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

Here are some pictures of the new DFC head. Hopefully I will get some flights with it tomorrow.. Definitely no play with this head block and the additional screws on the lower portion of the block.

Looks good. You will really like the way it flies.

The big flaw with this head is how it crashes. There are no weak points or links that can easliy pop off when it hits the ground. I crashed my dfc head twice and bent 3 of the 4 aluminum arms so far and 1 blade grip. I love the way this head flies, but I hate the way it crashes

Funky.. It flies Awesome..

Do you have the new swashplate?

It looks great but it's a pain to pop off the pitch links.

I got the new DFC swash after my first crash with the DFC head. I was hoping it might change something so the head didn't take such a beating in the next wreck. Unfortunately, it just made the links even harder to pop off and my next crash bent both of the aluminum arms going up to the swash I was only running 2900-3000 headspeed too. To get the links off the DFC swash, I had to unscrew the ball each time.

I love the way that DFC head flies, but I swapped it for a v2 flybarless head. I havent crashed this one yet, but I am hoping it holds up a little better than the DFC head did for me.

Ya, ya, ya, one of these days Ill just stop crashing. . . when I stop trying new stuff
