It's never nice or fun to loose a machine due to the ESC failing. Over three years Iv owned no less than a dozen Castles with only one issue. I had a capacitor break it's solder joint to the board.
Found an article about Castle in which it stated they made over 390,000 ESCs last year. I don't know how many burned in the HV mess but it was few compared to that number.

Fly it like its a rental...

Agreed. What I found most admirable of Castle Creations is when all the flame-ups were occurring around the globe. Castle indicated it was user error for many years. They could have easily gave in, admitted fault, and recalled all the HV ESC's due to faulty capacitors. They could have made a version 2.

They stuck by their guns saying user error instead of a recall.

Now that is customer service in my book.

I will just say that CC has been great for me. (Knock on wood), I have been running 5 (3 120s, 1 80, and a 160) with no issues. Tony Clement swapped a new 120 Ice 2 for my old 120 in Crowley with no questions asked, nor any receipt needed.

My one return that took a while was through a dealer, otherwise the turnaround has been very fast. Also they have been there and really helpful on any call I've needed to make.

I have to call that good customer service.

I hate to nit pick but since statistics were brought up, this guy has one failure out of several (I'll call that 7) which equates to a 14% failure rate.

The post above says one failure in a dozen which is an 8% failure rate.

I think the OP had 2 out of 3 and that's 67%

So the average failure rate in that group is 30%.

Please don't get mad at me...I'm just having a little fun with math and statistics.

My Jive 120HV failed 2 weeks ago causing a crash. The esc was in no way overloaded or abused the way I fly. Minimal damage and I replaced the esc with a YGE.

I just received a new HeliJive 120 version 12 replaced for the exact issue. This is the second one for the same failure.

On startup with a full Kontronik approved setup (Pyro-520) mode 8 VBar governor, the ESC cutout completely with no error codes. Just dead. This is on a SAB 700 Goblin. I changed the ESC out with a Kontronik 120 Power Jive and flew it for over a month. Motor was checked using MrMel's test. So setup was fine.

Now so everyone knows, this is my 4th HeliJive and 2 120 PowerJives. The other 2 HeliJives are still flying fine.

On the second HeliJive I had the same issue again. Thankfully both failures were on startup.

After second failure I switched to full Scorpion power system. Scorpion 520 Ultimate motor with the Scorpion Commander V Opto. After a month of flying the scorpion ESC failed in flight (Overtemp on startup error) and now the Goblin is down for the count.

Not sure if the VBar governor is so aggressive that it maybe burning out ESC's.

Version 12 supposedly fixes issues with external governor start ups based on what I read on other threads. Still trying to confirm this. No word from Kontronic as to why both ESC's failed.
