First off I want to give a public thank you to Ben Varley at technical support with Kontronics. He is a professional at his job and helped me through the process of solving my problems.
I purchased a Kosimk 160 ESC a little while ago wanting a newer update to my Heli-Jive 120s. The Heli-Jive 120's where working great with my KDE 700XF motor all summer long in both of my helis. The main reason I wanted to make the switch was the built in BEC with the Kosmik. I did not want to run an external BEC. I believe in the KISS rule. I wanted a BEC that could step me into the HV side of things with no issues that was not external.
After receiving my Kosmik 160, I installed and went out to get some first flights. There was an issue right away with shutting down in fairly basic maneuvers. I ask for some help publicly and then went to Kontroniks service. Ben with Kontroniks service was top notch. He had me check and double check everything in my system to rule out and issue there. I'll be the first person to point the finger at myself when testing anything new. I decide to purchase a Kosmik 200 to see if the problem was specific to the 160 I had.
After many e-mails back and forth with me testing new changes and set up per Ben recommendations, Ben provided a new download to me. It's currently available at the Kontroniks web site, version 3.1.
I data logged all my flights and made sure that Ben had all the proper information asked for while trying to figure out the issue.
Ben's last E-mail was the one that fixed all problems. Download the new software and change the timing from "auto" to positive 15.
With the change made to Kosmik 200 and a complete new set up from a fresh start, I changed the timing as instructed.
The flight was perfect. The ESC handle everything the way I would have expected to. I then installed the other 160 on my second heli and followed the same instructions. Perfect again with a series of beatings just to make sure.
So thank you Kontroniks for the great support.
