This has been beat to death pretty bad. It is all subjective and relative to the feel you like and your abilities. I am a vbar and cgy750 fan but for best bang for the buck and easy setup, the Beastx has to be your top choice. Some guys like the knock off brands, but I don't support that.

The Skookum SK540 is a new unit out, I was waiting for the Vbar to get back in stock, Waited and waited and finally gave up and went with the SK540 after set up and flight will not buy another Vbar. I love the ease of set up and hands off flight on the factory setting. And for the price you cant beat it. I have the new Vbar and Beast Very happy with the both, but the SK540 hands down is the one for me, the tail is locked in and the gov on the nitro is awesome.

I don't think you can with out the Laptop, but after the set up I have had no reason to adjust it. I can adjust the gains with my transmitter for the tail and swash.

You can purchase the Sk field programmer and di everything you could on the computer. It can also store and save setups at the field...

I don't believe there is a BEST for everybody!
I have VBar, Skookum, TotalG and G-T5 and they all perform flawlessly when set up correctly!

don't forget HeliCommand HC3-X
with rescue features, probably the finest FBL system.

I agree with NitroAl, you can make most systems work well if you KNOW how to set them correctly. Some are much easier than others.

The best FBL system is the one YOU love flying and you understand easily to program it. For me it's the V-Bar which is yours? I guess you will have to try a few out to see.

Agree, but the easiest for a newby hands down is the Beast.

Have you ever set up the Vbar or the SK540 before? The Wizard walks you step by step on both units. I actually found the SK540 and Vbar set up easier. It fall back to different strokes for different folks. LOL

For a newby to FBL, I recommend one that has a good computer interface or a comprehensive built-in display. The Beast X doesn't include these. The blinking LEDs are a PIA until you memorize what they mean. The CGY750 is too complicated for most newbs.

For ease of use go V-bar, SK540 or the new MSH Brain. All come with super easy to use computer software. Even a caveman could set one up!

Don't be mislead by those who say they don't want to have to "lug a laptop" to the field in order to change settings. If one is too weak to lug a 2 lb laptop, how in the world do they LUG a 12 lb heli?! The fact is much of our equipment is all computer based nowadays. Having my laptop with me allows me to do many other things besides adjusting my FBL settings, like downloading my CC ESC log, postings on RR, order spare/replacement parts or do any of the other countless things you can do with your laptop.

Back to the V-bar, SK540 and Brain. All have governors that work with electric or nitro. The SK540 can be used with a quad multicopter. The Brain can auto level. Download and check out the Brain software. You just may like what you see.

This thread revisted AGAIN, wait and AGAIN????
They all suck, VBar, BeastX, CGY750, 3GX, you guys all like whichever suits your flying style. Guys that like VBar get them cuz they need A LOT of help making their flying look stable.
BeastX sucks too cuz no governor and guys that cant handle a FB get one.

CGY sucks too cuz Futabe F'ed up with firmware, and it sucks too cuz its FBL.

Auto bailout, P-Gain, I-gain, robotic style?? all nonsense, thats for Geeks. Vbar gov too, which is crap in all respects, USE straight throttle curves. Now watch some one defend FBL with "nothing wrong if you want bailout," "nothing wrong with FBL...., " "Vbar is the best, it changes my babies diapers, and cooks, nah nah naah!"
FBL systems have no character that's why they suck!
They also suck cuz you can not use them in F3C(cheating, that's why FBL sucks)
Tareq, Bert Kamerrer, Jamie Robinson, and the Kyle....fly awesome with FB heads.

Ahhhhhh! I feel better getting that off my mind, thanks guys

I have setup about every flybarless system out there and am a huge vbar fan all the way back to 3.16 and aluminum sensors. In my opinion the Beast is the most newby friendly, but once again that is purely subjective.

I've had the Beastx, 3gx and cgy 750

All work well but I've seen a lot of beastx crashes due to using the stock mounting pad. Use 3m if you go with that system.

I'm currently messing with the Cgy750 and am really starting to like it. Like the above said, no led's to memorize, clear prompts.

A lot of guys kill the 3gx but I thing that system works very well and you can get new ones on here for 100.00 because people listen to others and take them out of the new kits and go with another system.

I ran mine with 2 sats, no main receiver and it works flawlessly and has a great feel to it.

Hope this helps

I bought it as a kit, it ended up a kit!
