What is the best way to secure the pinion to the motor shaft again. On this size motor / pinion there is not a set screw. Will epoxy hold?

Clean the shaft and the bore of the pinion well to remove any leftover residue. Then use a shot of the green stuff that comes in the Align kits.

A small amount, apply to the end of the shaft, install the pinion then give it a twist to evenly distribute the material. Let it cure completely before trying to use the motor.

Thanks Dave, it should have plenty of time to cure, waiting til IRCHA to pick up some needed parts. What is the normal cure time for the green stuff?

I let mine go overnight to cure. It's probably quicker than that. however.

+1 on the green locktite. Use the namebrand stuff from the auto parts store...not the green they give you in the align kits.

The stuff in the kits works perfectly fine.

I'm speaking from my experience...I've had stuff in the kits that was fine and I've had some that powdered after it cured and didn't hold. My Permatex and Loctite have never failed.

Locktite 680 (slip fit) works well on things like pinions that are not a press fit. You are pretty safe waiting overnight.

Isn't that the stuff they use on large industrial gears and shafts?
