Hi, after a little thought on this park flying subject it really boils down to one thing "WHO PAYS". In the event of a heli accident there is a minimum write off out of pocket expense, most always to the operator.

Most people know rc things fall from the sky from time to time but the operator will have to fork over the repair cost to material damages should there be any to other than heli. How much damage can a heli do to things? Much more to human beings than objects there-fore a heli flyer assumes total responsibility over what his heli does in a private or public place and the costs there-of personal and/or material.

Hurting someone with a park flown heli could be very expensive.

Who's to say that any of them have moved?
Who said they did?
Who cares how hard it is to move..If they did,the AMA would update the info.

The club is sanctioned...Not the field.

This allows me to fly in a lot of neat spots. I love this permit.

BTW, this is not a post to keep the arguement going. Just a permit that shows how awesome arizona is about it.

I already did.
You'd have to weigh the individual helis because they're close.
No need to weigh a stock 450, they weigh on average about 1.8 lbs. May be close, but still under regardless. Also if you look at the site where they talk about parkflyers, they have a 450 in the picture.

Rightly so.
It should be a crime.

So what?
Who are you trying to convince?
I don't care and I think a 250 should be illegal.

Nothing you can say will change that.

Stop trying.

It's not personal....Stay out of my parks...It's illegal here and the citizens will enforce it...It's a fact.

To be a crime, it would have to show intention. Otherwise it is an accident unless it is specifically stated that you can not fly there. That is the reason why the guys in Tampa didn't get charged when they hit the girl. They couldn't show intention, but they were at fault.

My point is that people on this forum are from all over the country and different countries as well. All too often, they assume that their laws apply to everyone across the board. Also people hear the word "park" and they picture a place where a bunch of kids are running around. This is not always the case when the word "park" is used. Let's be a little more open-minded. BTW, their is no reason to yell. This is a discussion, not a yelling match.

That video looked like me flying my friends 450 for the first time. Crashing is part of the game!
Sure, crashing is more likely going to happen when learning to fly.
But use some smarts. Use a heli more suited to the pilot.
And stand a safe distance from it, especially when just learning..
A park occupied or not is not the best place to learn. Go to a place where no one is in danger of your inexperience. Also, it will allow you to concentrate on flying. Nobody ever saw me fly until I was able to do it safely. I see many posts saying "If your not crashing your not pushing yourself" well in my opinion that is just nonsense. Should a real pilot expect to crash if he or she want to further there abilities? Bottom line. Be smart and respect others when flying. Or even when your not flying..

BTW, as an example, here is a list of some of our parks. So as I have said, your laws don't always work across the board.
The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department has designated sections of eight city parks for flying radio/remote controlled aircraft and model rockets. Use the links below to see aerial maps of the flight areas at each park. You can also review Phoenix City Code Ch. 24-49 for details on flying radio-controlled aircraft in city parks and Phoenix City Code Ch. 24-49.1 for details on flying model rockets.

Coyote Basin Park- 2730 E. Beardsley Rd. (27th Place & Beardsley Rd)
Desert Foothills Park - Lower Field - 1010 Marketplace Southwest (Chandler Blvd & Desert Foothills Parkway)
Dynamite Park - 4550 E. Dynamite Blvd. (north of Dynamite Road at 44th Street)
El Prado Park- 6428 S. 19th Ave. (19th Avenue and Southern Avenue)
Esteban Park- Eastern Quadrant. 3345 E. Roeser Road (32nd Street and Broadway Road)
Grover's Basin Park B - 17447 N. 20th St. (Cave Creek Road and Grovers)
Mountain View II Park- open space south of the ball field, 9901 N. 7th Avenue, (7th and Cinnabar Avenues)
Werner's Field Park - 17831 N. 7th Ave. (7th Avenue and Grovers Avenue)

I never said it did...

That's 8 parks that have allowed it.
How many don't?
Do you even check?
Does EVERYONE check?

The park in Tampa had a no motorized model ordinance.
Self entitled idiots walk right through the rules every day and in this case, someone was hurt...Bad.

I hope those two got sued for everything they had and everything they will ever have.
I also hope the AMA gave them the boot...If not,I have no respect for them.

Well you were quite worked up about your park laws and I don't recall you mentioning others. BTW, Since Arizona is quite far from where you live, I don't believe that you have to worry about me flying in your parks.

Let's be reasonable and take things in context.

You know what I'm talking about.

If a heli can seriously injure someone...keep it out of the park.

I'm talking about populated parks and not desolate isolated areas publicly owned.

Who's splitting hairs?

If one person is there and wants to sit in the middle of the field and look at clouds....They have the right of way...They can't hurt anyone...You can.
