serching for ideas; the main gear on my goose just got stripped and i don't know why this happen; I'm running 850's with the 90-18 gear........any ideas would by greatly appeciated.

Could be from heat due to friction. Have you ever touched the smaller metal pinion gear after a flight? I had one that was so hot that you could not touch it after a flight.
Vario sells titanium grease, I just brushed on a light coat of the stuff which solved the issue.

Leo,

After looking at your photos this incident could be caused by fatigue or stress cracks from previous crashes. For this reason we made our main gear slightly thicker to withstand more stress and take a higher load. By looking at the photo that you provided this is a very old gear made by a European manufactor not Airstar.
