And now, the rest of the story:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...ST2011020403674

Some snippets from that article:
Ultimately, Reagan signed measures that increased federal taxes every year of his two-term presidency except the first and the last. These included a higher gasoline levy, a 1986 tax reform deal that included the largest corporate tax increase in American history, and a substantial raise in payroll taxes in 1983 as part of a deal to keep Social Security solvent. While wealthy Americans benefitted from Reagan's tax policies, blue-collar Americans paid a higher percentage of their income in taxes when Reagan left office than when he came in.
a USA Today poll taken four days after the fall of the Berlin Wall found that 43 percent of Americans credited Gorbachev, while only 14 percent cited Reagan.
Federal spending grew by an average of 2.5 percent a year, adjusted for inflation, while Reagan was president. The national debt exploded, increasing from about $700 billion to nearly $3 trillion.
in 1982, with the nation mired in recession and the federal deficit growing out of control, Reagan proposed – and got passed- The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act, then the largest peacetime tax bump in our nation’s history.
Despite the fantasy clung to by small government extremists of today, and despite Reagan’s suggestion that ‘government is the problem’, the number of federal employees grew from 2.8 million to 3.0 million during the two Reagan terms. While promising that he would get rid of the Departments of Education (some things never change) and Energy, Reagan never put an end to these agencies. Indeed, he even added a new cabinet level agency, the Department of Veteran Affairs. So, yes, the federal government grew during the Reagan years.
I know these are not cute little Photoshop posters, but they are the facts, not the myths.

And of course my favorite Reagan tid bits:

It was Governor Ronald Reagan of California who signed the Mulford Act in 1967, "prohibiting the carrying of firearms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public street." The law was aimed at stopping the Black Panthers, but affected all gun owners.

Twenty-four years later, Reagan was still pushing gun control. "I support the Brady Bill," he said in a March 28, 1991 speech, "and I urge the Congress to enact it without further delay."

And don't forget how many times he tried to give full amnesty to all illegals.

I am not a liberal, but you would assume differently, but I am not the one that keeps putting Reagan up on a pedestal like he was some god or something. Reagan was bad and most on the right refuse to admit it. I have no problem saying how bad the democrats have been, but I also acknowledge how bad the republicans have been. There hasn't been anyone good for a long time, way back before I was born.

George "Read my lips - no new taxes" Bush was pretty good. He didnt like broccoli, didnt want broccoli on Air Force One, and I can respect a man that stands up for his beliefs.

Me neither, but Reagan was way more inspiring to all americans than Barry.
Reagan was bad and most on the right refuse to admit it.
You mean like the left is doing with Barry?

The entire problem is when was the last time you voted FOR someone instead of AGAINST the other guy. Unfortunately, it's an evil balance. One party gets in and screws everything up in one direction, then you need the other party to screw it up the other. And so on and so forth. Neither is actually good for this country and neither is actually good for you and me. These people are all just power hungry individuals that have no morals to get where the are or want to be. They will throw any one of us under the bus for their own purposes and if you think they care or are going to do what is actually right for this country or the good of it , then you're kidding yourself. They are only interested in their own personal agenda.

My $.02........

I will not hold you to your blind ignorance of how military operations occur. And for those that hold Jimmy Carter responsible for the aborted helicopter rescue, they are ignorant as well.

President Reagan had nothing to do with the death of our military men, it was on the shoulders of the commanders! Get your crap together before you start spewing it from your mouth.

However, I will concur that the responsibility lies squarely with the Captain of the Boat, either good or bad.

So, yes, Obama gets 'yeahs' for killing Osama, but big @ss nea's for everything else he has turned to crapola. Why? Because he is the Captain of the Boat, and it is sinking fast.

Hey numbskull, they are called Commander in Chief for a reason. If you wouldnt spew the crap and read facts you would find the central command didnt want to stay in that location. They told the president the space was not defendable and wanted to move outside of town but were ordered to remain

The President ( again, Commander in Chief) makes the decisions that tell the commanders what to do.

It was Reagans choice not to retalliate and no one else

Just like it was Obama's choice to have the seals go ahead.

Just Like George Bush 1 decided Dessert Shield

He certainly lived up to that. Once again, recall that he increased taxes in 6 of his 8 years in office including the single largest tax increase up to that time. He also increased the size of the government, and created a whole new cabinet department.

But you go ahead and keep posting your fantasy based cute little posters. They have no relation to reality, but as usual, that means nothing to you.

The typical tactic is to say Reagan raised taxes 11 or 12 times (the exact number depends on whom you ask.) But it’s unhelpful — in fact, it’s a bit misleading — to talk about how many times Reagan raised taxes. That’s because (as noted earlier) tax increases are not created equal. Some are much worse than others. And many of Reagan’s so-called “tax increases” were actually examples of ending deductions
