In the middle of all the sites (someone else can be more specific) there is a shower house however you'll need to be there reallllly early if you don't want to wait in line. Other than that it's primitive.

Theere are showers at site 3. Electric hookups only. Water available on site to fill tanks. All sites are sold out but may be space available to piggy back off the power pole if others agree and may need 50amp to 30 amp plug.

Also dont believe any sites are reserved this year so first in gets choice of spot.

Should look somehow like this. As far as I know camping is behind main site, facilities are a bit away, so you should have a golf cart or go by car.

Joachim

EDIT: refreshed the picture with more camping sites I remembered (marked red). The one on the left between entrance and main flying site is a tent only and did look great the past years. There usually was almost noone here.
The red bottom one close to main flight line in my opinion was a general camp field, all people had tents and RVs there, not only vendors, but check with AMA to make sure.
The one at site 3 (SpeedCup site) is gravel and RVs only.

Oh, you should take care about a reservation fast, which it is actually pretty late for already.
Contact Julie from Salopek rentals and do this right now. You will NOT get one at the field !

Just reserved mine 5 minutes ago $227 (2 passenger with a top). The lady said there were some cancellations and only a few remained.
Walking that flight line in the sun is a workout- get your cart.

I went two years without a cart and will never go without a cart again. It's not bad if you're just going to stay on the main flight line but if you want to go visit friends or watch the speed run ETC, you'll want the cart. Also even if you are just staying at the flight line, you'll be amazed at how many times you go up and down and back and forth. You'll want the cart.

Also, from my understanding, camping behind the main line is only permitted for vendors/sponsors ETC and not the general pilots. If you have a camper you have to be on another site and there is also a specific section for primitive camping on the way in.

I don't think anyone would take issue with it providing it has "turf" tires on it. That's usually what they require to minimize damage to the ground. It'll already be dried and dead so they don't want ruts either.

Don't forget for any camping, primitive or not, you need to check in with AMA Headquarters to pay. If it's on the weekend, you can do so in the museum.

All the sites at Site 3 have been reserved, but it is first come, first serve as to your spot. There is a waiting list of about 75 or so names. If you are dry camping, you are allowed to camp in the grass at the east end of Site 4. The electric hookups behind the main flight line are for vendors/sponsors only.

Not exactly true. For IRCHA you can primitive camp (no electic) just about anywhere. On the main site #4 you can camp along the corn on the South side of the road both West and East of the gravel area. The gravel area and the grass directly behind the gravel is reserved for vendors and is full.

I have a friend who's just getting into R/C helis and doesn't have anything to fly, he just wants to spectate. He's wondering if there's a place to camp with a tent (if so, what does that cost?) and if he's still required to do the IRCHA/AMA registration for spectating.
