Obviously, the Align 700 DFC conversion lowers the head compared to the 3G main mast.

Why is the lower section 8mm longer?

Using the welded ring as the common starting point;
A) On the DFC main mast, the distance to the bottom end of the shaft is longer than the 3G main mast by 8mm.
B) The main gear bolt holes are in the same place on each. This means there will be 8mm more shaft sticking out below the main gear.

Is this a problem?
Is there a modified lower main bearing for the 700?

Or, does the lower section of the shaft just extend past the lower main bearing and that's "okay"?

Why did they add 8mm more below the main gear?

Cool.
Next question: Does the DFC head use the same swash as the 3G head? Or do I need to upgrade / change the swash too?

There is a DFC swash for 700 size heils but its only currently available with 700E DFC. The normal swash is fine for now but DFC has advantages.

I saw the DFC swash on a guys 700E.
It is definitely different, it has 2 positions to mount the grip balls and the links attach 90 degrees from "normal". Looks very beefee.
I can't use it for my Raptor, and it seems the "traditional" swash will be fine.

Swash inner/outer holes
Would someone please provide the distance of the two swash holes? I see there is an innner and outer hole. Either the distance from ball-center to ball-center, or ball-center to swash-center.

Also, is there a DFC frame conversion kit available? Else, what are all the necessary parts needed to transition from the stock 700e frame to a 700e DFC frame? Thanks.

Frames are the same. You just need the DFC upgrade kit and the DFC main shaft.

Correction... I was informed that the frames are NOT the same. I fly nitro and converting to DFC on the nitro had nothing to do with the frames.

Any sure answers about my swash question above? Also my question about any conversion kit being available that contains all parts necessary to have the new frame set?

Sam2B:
The inner holes on the fancy swash are the same as the stock Align swash.
One of the BEST pilots I have ever seen flys the 700e with DFC and this swash - and he uses the inner ball position.

Does the DFC head need the Lynx main grip bolt (spindle bolts?) upgrade?

I noticed that the DFC head has a bigger bolt and uses the a larger allen wrench.
But the Lynx bolt I have on the 3G head is massive and uses a 6mm allen (or something huge).

EDIT: I added the Lynx feathering shaft upgraded bolts. I asked around, and the majority said the Lynx bolts were not needed.

But, I had a set, so I used them

Edit: glad to read the swash is an improvement, at least for flybarless units' sake with a resolution increase.

Last I checked the outer holes are the stock distance for the 700e/n fbl. The inner holes allow for even more mechanical resolution ..

This is what the DFC head looks like on a Raptor 90.
And it flies pretty well too.

The longer main shaft fits straight into the lynx third bearing upgrade perfect .
So you can ditch the extension piece normally required :-)
