...short answer - Party on the field Friday night. Everyone's invited, bring a friend, bring chair, bring a heli, bring a few cocktails, bring some food to share.....

This is not an IRCHA or AMA sponsored event - just something to do at the field during one of the "off" nights!

Here's last years Helipalooza 2011 Post:

....I just re-read last year's Helipalooza post and just re-lived the evening sitting here at my desk at work....I GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE!

So what's everybody bringing this year?? We gotta try some of your local traditional treats from around the world!

We missed out on the corn boil last year - hopefully we can see that return this year.

Dave & I will be cooking wings again this year while Timbers will be hard at work with tasty corn dogs...complete with his special sauce! Of course our Rumballs will be there in force!! Mmmmm - gotta love a tasty treat which contains 80 proof liquor!

DJ Todd is bringing tunes and speakers to rock out to!

Hey Dialarotor - whachubringn bud?

Ever eaten solid rum? That's what the rum balls are like. Get there early, I believe they only make 2000 of them and they go fast.

I don't know how they do it, but the rum balls there are about four times stronger than straight rum.

I believe the biggest thing to keep in mind with helipalooza is: Don't fly if you've been "partying hard" unless you don't want the party to happen again. Also, don't get out of hand and act stupid either. It's supposed to be a nice relaxing social get together and the guys that do the cooking are doing one hell of a huge favor. Keep in mind there are Indiana state troopers in a couple places throughout the site so if you do something stupid you will be noticed and caught.

Bart, i think anyone who is drinking anything with alcohol is a no fly period, not even 1! and for the most part, everyone I've met at IRCHA the few times i have been there have been fairly responsible people. Hopfeully there wont be a need for the troopers to step in for anything, but guess it is a bonus to have them there.

I agree, no drinking and flying at all which is why I put "partying hard" in quotations, a.k.a. the hard part being drinking. And I also agree that most everyone seems to be responsible. It's just there have been some first timers asking about the party and all and I think it's a good idea to lay out what's expected ahead of time so no one gets the impression that it's a heavy drinking snorting coke party.

....I gotta walk around more during the party - I missed that "line"!

Last year we had a squad parked in plain view for the duration of the party. Mostly I think when you get a few hundred people together with party favors, small situations can get out of hand very quickly. Their presence helps cut down that risk.

Another good Friday night gathering will be had by all in attendance.

Absolutely, I love it. Can't wait and I for one am very appreciative of all the things many people do to make that gathering happen. One of the things I look forward to the most while at IRCHA.

Yum Yum
You will pass the Helipalooza Guys Big Top during the week. Stop by say hi and ask if we need anything. Reached out for a few generators last year and guys helped right out. BYOB, we will have 2 Igloo 5 gal coolers with FAI liquids, not ROTOR RAGE liquids like 2 years ago.
If you have a big spotlight throw it in the golf cart as we are hoping that some guys will night fly a few stations away from party central, keep it safe.
Along with the wings, rumballs and Timbers new creation, I will be grilling hot dogs, as many as I can get on the grill, chili and suerkraut fixings to go with.

If the jumbalaya kettle makes it again, hope I get some this time.
If the sweet corn guys shows up, it is great.

We will have lots of trash bags to keep the place tidy. By 3am you can barely tell there was a party, so help us out and toss the trash in one of the cans or bags.

Somebody bring a few pingpong balls just in case a beer pong game breaks out. It's been known to happen. Come and rock the night away, have a ball and a rumball, a wing or two and something to wash it down. Wives, girlfriends and kids are welcome so have some fun, tell some lies, jokes and show off the latest heliswag you won. It's an impromptu cocktail party for helinuts sponsored by nothing but enthusiasm and helinuts. It's not dinner, IRCHA takes care of that the next night, and the Boy Scouts are great at taking care of the rest of your meal needs all week long.

BTW, Kevin, the secret to those potent rumballs is that we recruit most of the heli vendor girl teams to help us capture the Keebler Elves for a few hours and they show us the trade secrets while we make the rumballs. Magic Elves, yeah!!!! that's the secret.

SWARM ROCKS THE HOUSE AGAIN
Coach,LaunchPad,Timbers,DJTodd,Dialarotor with help from our tent neighbors,Gus&Friends and other contributors piled on the food & music on a cool clear Friday night at Heli Heaven. 120 lbs of fried chicken wings, 150 deep fried corn dogs, 250 grilled hotdogs, one big tray of corn relish, another big tray of smoked grilled pork shoulder, 8 gallons of Gus&Friends jambalaya, 6 gallons of lemonade, 6 gallons of fruit punch, and nearly 1500 RUMBALLS all washed down by I don't know how much BYOB liquids made for a real wingding of a party. Thanks to all that came, all that contributed, all that picked up trash and all the many night flyers up and down the flight line. From the end of the vendors tent to the Michigan Whirlybirds/HeliFreak back 40 the night flying every night was awesome. As much fun & as entertaining as the 5 pilots before the fireworks gala. Many thanks to any folks that threw in on the donation jars. We love doing it and you folks came through and the food the SWARM5 prepared was pretty much covered.
The critique at the post party firepit round table was conducted and we are already making plans for next year. Darn, only 362 days until we can all party down and get together again. The SWARM COOKS are back and will be bigger and better in 2013, just in case the MAYANS got it wrong and the world doesn't end on 12/23/2012.
In the worlds of Wayne and Garth, PARTY ON!!!!!!!!

We made it in very late on Friday night/ Sat morning after a few set backs and missed the party. I was extremely bummed about this and there was a little grey cloud following me around until I met Dave at show center with a handful of emergency rum balls. He was gracious enough to share two of them and that made the 14+ hour drive worth it!

Thanks again!
