Is there anyone out there who can advise me on the radio selection? Any differences? Performance and quality? Thank you for your assistance.

Apples and oranges.

The 11x is a high end radio that has a ton of programming options for different model types (especially benefiting large gliders and other airplane types), an SD card for firmware updates and unlimited model storage, a better display, and more channels.

It also costs more.

Performance is based on your requirments.

I started with the Dx7 and upgraded to the 11x when my Dx7 died. Best radio choice I have ever made. You will never be disappointed by the 11x as it is so versatile and adjustable to your needs. Tons of programming options, programmable switches etc.

The big kicker for me was the spacing between the extra switches on the top. I like to rest my fingers between the switches and there just isn't space on the Spektrum radios and even on the 93/9503 models.

The 11x is definitely worth the extra coin.

I haven't used a DX7S but I went from the DX7 to a 11X then to a DX8 back to the 11X...I kinda wish I stayed with the DX8 It did everything I need for the helicopters but I had a few giant scale airplanes that required the extra channels and some programming that the 8 didn't offer. Now that I am back to helis only, personally I prefer the DX8.

To me the 11X is harder to fly 3D with because of the case size and switch positions plus it's weighs more than the DX8.

I have had some close calls from losing grip on the 11X with the DX8 you can bang sticks all day without worrying about dropping it... Yes I fly without a neck strap they get in the way.

I have had both, The 11X just feels great when you pick it up. I liked the looks of it, and once I learned the programming, it was a snap. After using it for a while, I have found it to be a great TX. I don't think I want any other. Just my 2 cents.

If you are thinking of going for the 11x, do not overlook the DX18. Very nice transmitter with much flexibility and a good price point for what it is.
