No... that's first hand experience. I knew what it was soon as the motor sound changed.. I Actually had it turned and aimed straight up the field before it died and just auto'd straight in from there..

Refuel.. .go again... Happaay...

Oh yeah!
That's happened to me too, more than a couple of times. One time I was flying in Beltsville with Larry, right to left across the field out there past the runway..the motor konked out, Larry yelled "you're out!" and I turned left 90 degrees directly at us. Was able to glide back and landed about 75 feet away on the runway.

I ended up reducing my 15 minute time to 14 minutes, as that time it ran out at 15 minutes and 19 seconds and another time in Hazelton it ran out right around the 15 minute mark. Bit smaller gas tank, more rpms, by 15 minutes you're on fumes.

Well, I think my post about reversing fuel and vent lines was premature. I had some time today to spend with investigating/trying to fly my helicopter and found of all things the head was loose on the Zenoah RC 26. In fact the bolts on the engine were not even hand tight. With only two bolts in this head that did not do much to keep the engine running as designed. Since you have to remove the engine and air shroud to even check these two bolts I will be modifying the air shround so I can check them without taking the helicopter apart. I would like to replace the paper gasket with a silicone liquid but do not see any others doing this. Better yet adding two more bolts on the head. Anyway, if you thought you did not have to check on torque settings on a new stock engine, just add that to your checklist.

Engine
Your BEST bet would be to get the 270 motor instead of the 260, which comes with a 4 bolt head. The 2 bolt zenoah RC motor is not good in my opinion, you can't keep those 2 bolts holding the head tight it will leak from the cylinder. You can try this and that to seal it, but eventually it will leak again.

4 bolt is the way.

Just cleared 60 flights on my whiplash today. I leaned the Hanson 270 motor I had just a bit on the low end as it burped some and I wanted to increase the flight times. The motor ran good and on the last 5th flight of the day I flew it non-stop at idle up 2 1900 head speed and landed it at 15 minutes 9 seconds and the tank was pretty much on fumes. Checked the cylinder head temp right away hottest reading I got was 225F.
