First day of IRCHA
I am attending IRCHA on the first day, the 15th.

Do they start the raffles on Wed.? Is it dead on Wed.?

I know Saturday is the main event.

The majority of action doesent really begin till Friday then Saturday. Last year as I recall raffles etc were all Saturday....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Yes the raffles, pilots dinner, main show with night flight & fireworks are all on Saturday. It's kind of the final big thing.

There's individuals night flying each night but Friday night is Helipalooza and Saturday is IRCHA's event. I'll be there from Wednesday onward as well.

Some of the vendors do some things on Friday but most of those guys also do things on Saturday. Basically boils down to if you can only be there a day or two be sure Saturday is one of those days.

It will not be so dead on Wed. Crowds are smaller you can nose around better.

Muncie, Indiana at the AMA headquarters field.

Even if you don't like large crowds or large events, you have to attend it at least one time in your life.

Like all large events, the later you get there, the farther away from "center stage" you'll have to park and pit. All the vendors pay increasingly greater sums of money to reserve tent space as close to "center stage" as possible, and most of the "goin's on" occur at the center stage area, or shall we say closer to the center of the event.

We leave Sunday (three day drive from California pulling a trailer), and will be there "checking things out" on Tuesday afternoon.

Like Dr. Ben said, "dead" on Wednesday is not the way to describe it...just not a "crazy". It will become increasingly "crazy" as the days go on until the finale, Saturday night.

Is the grass still green? Looking at XFC pictures it looked a little dried up in certain areas.

Oh I absolutely understand that. So far, this event just keeps getting bigger and better so I see no reason at the time why it won't last for many years to come so hopefull you can make it sometime soon.Regards, Brandon Bartolomucci; Team Synergy; Team Scorpion; & Team Bavarian Demon; AMA# L939231

Wednesday & Thursday are good too
Even on those days manufacturers and vendors give away great heli swag and during noontime fun different crazy giveaways. In the past lots of Thunder Power battery packs, at various forums, Align has given away kits playing trivial pursuit heli style, Mikado has given away numerous Vbar units at various times of the day during demos and forum events. Just have to keep moving and keep your ear to the ground. The group pictures for various helis is always good for cool stuff like blades, Align DFC conversion heads, etc. Got to go to win, just like the lotto, got to play to win.

The event officially starts Wednesday. Most vendors are arriving on Tuesday now, with their setup complete early Wednesday morning. The majority of pilots are there by Wednesday evening, and a few more arrive on Thursday. There are usually less than 75 that typically come in on Friday/Saturday. This should give you an idea that it is a week long event, not just Friday Saturday.

Thursday will have manufacturer demos all day, with a new machine demo hour at noon. Companies will be giving items away all week. The IRCHA raffle is Saturday evening.

There are several other things going on at the same time. The Nats will be running all week, and the speed cup will be happening. There will be a lot to take in, and like Disney you need more than a couple of days.
